Hi guys,
Marie's post started my brain thinking (a rarity!). I haven't read an entire book since before becoming a mom (and I used to be an avid and fast reader!) but I would have time to read short stories...even one might take a week to get through at my current snail's pace. Is there any interest in starting or trying an online book club where we would all buy the same book of short stories and then discuss them? I know it wouldn't be much to discuss but it still might be interesting to talk about what we liked/disliked, etc. Or is this a completely dumb idea? If you're interested, let me know and maybe we can toss around some suggestions for a book.
I've never been in a book club at all before so, those who have, please give honest feedback about whether this would even work.

Dawne,
I was thinking of something like one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/045...lance&n=283155
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/055...lance&n=283155

But I'm open to anything. I don't own any of these but DH gave me a book of Best American Short Stories for Xmas one year a few years back and I loved just being able to read an entire story even if I only had a short time, YKWIM? It was so fun and I hadn't read short stories since high school, really. I remember loving some by O. Henry and Edgar Allan Poe. Pretty cool stuff.
What do you think?

Sounds interesting - I love short stories, too. You would have to be the organizer, though! I'm afraid I would let it fall through the cracks if someone else weren't cracking the whip.
One of my favorite books is by Sylvia Townsend Warner. It's called The Music at Long Verney. All the stories are by the same author (Ms. Warner) so I wouldn't recommend it for this type of group - but if you like short stories, I can't recommend it highly enough!LJ born 8/4/04 thanks to the miracle of IVF.
