very low AMH...(child ment)

I am 42 and trying for our second child. DS is almost 6 and DH did not want another due to the stress and cost of IF treatment. Recently, out of the blue, DH had a change of heart and I am starting my first IVF cycle. I am worried at 42 whether this is still the right thing to do, but in my heart I know I have to try.

My AMH level was "very low" 0.11. My RE has me on 600 of Gonal f/day and said we will just see what happens. Anyone else with low AMH levels, and can you tell me if you responded to high-dose of meds?

Sharon,unfortunately yes your AMH level is very low... But it isn't impossible..I wouldn't expect a huge response though even with max dose drugs... Honestly, low stim may be better, just to get 1-2 good follicles.... Even with max dose u may not get anymore and the high dose can adverse ly affect eggs... Aso even doing medicated IUI... Unless u have MFI too... U might want to ask about taking DHEA. For AMA poor responders, low AMH level it can be very beneficial.

thanks Jen. I will definitely ask about the DHEA. Definitely didn't respond well at all....after all those meds, still only one mature follicle. I keep telling myself it only takes ONE. I didn't know that high dose meds can hurt the eggs..that worries me. Something else to ask RE about...she is planning to do a mini flare protocol if this does not work (my IVF cycle was converted to IUI after only one follie). IUI was yesterday, and I am hoping and praying for a miracle!
