    Hi everyone,
Dodo, so sorry aboutyour m/c. I bet AF will be there soon! HUGS

I'm waiting for AF and starting acupuncture today, hoping we will be ready to cycle end of Sept or if not Oct. DH really wants us to wait but I feel the clock ticking even louder and with the package I basically get two attempts with IVF so here goes it. My hx was in my signature which is not showing up. Dealt with IF since my 20's so no surprise. I've done numerous injectible IUI cycles throughout the years, some sucessful, some not. With age came other complications due to immune issues making it more challenging. In any event, I've beat this IF game 2x and really didn't want to end on a loss. Good luck everyone

Stace-Thanks for sharing your history. It looks like we may cycle at the same time.

Dodo- I'm sure AF will be on the way soon. Has your hcg dropped all the way down yet? I know you're anxious to get started. As you know, I'm not doing DE, but rooting you on in finding the perfect donor!!

AFM- -My RE said I don't have to do a saline sonogram since I just had a hysteroscopy in May. YAY! I do need to have a mock transfer, and have that scheduled for next Wednesday. They like to do it the cycle prior to your IVF cycle. Other than that, I am definitely feeling that cyst, and hoping it disappears on its own this cycle!!

    Chiming In

Hey Val and thanks for inviting me to the new thread!

I am so happy that you are making plans for your ivf cycle that is great. It will be here soon and I would be happy to help with tips since I tried ivf well too many times to count.

My history well I have two children the old-fashioned way and than a set of heaven sent twins via ivf. We have frozen embryos but are just trying timed intercourse with injectables and femara. I am unconventional but this just feels right.

I hope we all have our dreams come true!!!

poohbear: thanks for your kind words! i hope AF will arrive your door soon!. How's your acupuncturist? I don't have luck in finding a good one at my area. after searching for 6 of them, i am not going anywhere at this point of time.

Val: i remember trial transfer need to be done if we haven't done in a certain period. I had it done in 2003. therefore, when i went back to IVF last year, they told me I have to do another one to make sure. it's good to do before IVF cycle.

afm, I don't know when I can cycle until AF comes. RE said that he will check my lining and b/w once AF comes. If everything is normal and beta is still below 5 which I'm now, he said that i can cycle immediately. It's workable but not recommended. o/w, he said it's better to wait for the next one after the coming one before I can cycle again. wish that i can cycle end of september or october same as you gals!

Hello pretty ladies here. Mind if I join you with my 40 coming in November? I've just had my first IVF failed. Now I am waiting to start BCP next cycle for the IVF #2. I am working on my egg quality now: vitamins, suppiments, exercising, trying to loose a little wt, looking for a good accupuncturist. What can you do? Those eggs are so capricious!

daisygirl-Thanks for joining! I'm excited to move to IVF. It'll be my first, so naturally, I'm worried about how I'll respond to the meds, and how many eggs will fertilize. I have so many meds in my fridge right now, there's hardly room for food. Given how many follies I had on femara and a few doses of menopur, it looks like I have enough meds in there to give birth to a kindergarten class. Haha. I can only hope, right?!! It's hard to believe that I'd be 8 months pregnant now if I hadn't lost the pregnancy in January. It's also hard to believe how easily I got pregnant and can't make it happen again so easily! Blah! So, your cyst is gone and you're doing your femara? What day are you? When do your oldests go back to school? DS goes on Monday.

malley-Welcome. Feel free to post any time about anything, not just when you're cycling. It's good to get to know everyone.

Stace/Pooh-How was accupuncture. Does that stuff really work? I've never tried it but going to ask my RE what he thinks when we meet in a couple weeks.

dodo-I always believe that everything happens at exactly the right time. So, maybe the delay in your cycling is a good thing for some reason we just can't see right now. Did you get to get more info about your donor yet?

daisyflower-Of course you can join. I don't know what if anything we can really do about age related quality. I do know that certain med combos are supposed to create better quality eggs, but who knows. I truly believe there is as much miracle as there is science when it comes to baby-making. Welcome!!

    Brand New

Hi All, I'm brand new to FertileThoughts, and by some measures fairly new to the whole world of TTC, etc... But this site, and all the information and support here has already been invaluable to me. I don't have a signature w/ all my details but here are a few basics: I'm 43, will turn 44 next month, and got married last October. It's the first marriage for both of us (he's about to turn 39) and we took 2 years to get to the altar, though we started TTC a few months before that. So, we're about 1 1/2 years in and just had our first IVF cycle cancelled due to lack of response. It took us almost 4 mths just to get that cycle set up (travel complications, get my cycle working etc...). I have FSH levels that fluctuate but have hit a high of 21, and I have a very irregular menstrual cycle now. (My obgyn said "welcome to your 40's". Harrumph!!)

Anyway, our RE wants to try a different protocol for another IVF cycle but I am wondering about just deciding to move on to DE. I feel like my body is sending pretty clear messages about ovarian reserve, response to medications, etc... and w/ 44 being just weeks away the odds of success are so very very slim. Of course, making that final call is tough - the "what ifs" are always lurking so we're wrestling with those. I so wish it weren't such a guessing game but there's nothing to do about that.

Anyway, this is rambling but I thought I'd jump into the community here so I don't feel quite so alone in my stewing about these decisions.

    Thanks!

    Elizabeth

Elizabeth - Welcome!! I understand how difficult it is to make these decisions. Money being no object, I'd definitely do a second IVF in your case to see if they can get a better response with a different protocol. Sometimes, especially if you've never stimmed before, that first IVF is such a guessing game. If the money is the obsticle, it's a decision only you and your DH can make. I am fine with DE, as long as I feel I've done all I can do with my own first. We're getting ready to try our first IVF, and I'm very nervous about how I'll respond, and if I respond well, how many eggs will fertilize and grow well, and then wonder if they will implant... It's such a stressful process.

As far as age, there is a thread on this board about 44 and first IVF. I believe one of those ladies had success, so it's hard to totally give up until you've tried and simply KNOW it's the right decision to move to the next step.

    Glad you found us!!
