Happy Sunday Ladies!! Since things have slowed down a bit I am going to do two week threads until it picks back up. Have 2 part time jobs right now and it's keeping me busy -- hoping eventually there will be "extra money" for TX so that keeps me motivated.

Posting something that is worth watching on the when you need a lift thread.....

BIG HUGS~

Hey ladies! Long time no post...I noticed we are Magnificent and over 25...I like that! Makes me feel younger...Sorry I haven't posted in a while...Just have been really busy with work, and only have a chance to post a short one here and there. Since, I haven't been able to keep up on where everyone is at, I felt like I would be selfish posting "all about me" without being able to be supportive to each of you...

Well, with the new week (or two) and new year, thought I'd try to start anew. I am going to talk "all about me", but just for a fresh starting place.

I've had a birthday since my last post. Little depressing, but not too rough. Not like 35 was...I'm getting older, but better...I hope! I have lost over 54 lbs. now...Only another 17 lbs until I reach "lifetime" and then can stop paying for support. That's will be a nice savings of about $40.00 a month. I even thought about working part-time for them on the weekend, to earn a little extra money, stay on task with my weight loss, and making sure I show up to meetings. Just a thought if I don't get pregnant. I am feeling great. Mentally, I think I'm in a much healthier place. I've come to accept a baby may not be in our future, but I'll be okay with that. Not that I've given up, by any means, but have come to a place of acceptance, rather than obsession. I've been treating my MTHFR and hope that it's going to have some positive results on our upcoming cycle. I've gotten through (almost through) another year end in our accounting department. I hate that this job has made me dread the holidays. But, with them being almost over, that marks the chance for a new try. End of February I'll start a new cycle. I've been on a break since last July, so am looking forward to getting back to "trying" again. I am not looking forward to the stress, wear & tear on my body, disruption to my 'norm', doctors appts, and cost, but am looking for the possibility it brings. I tried a colon cleanse and detox while I was on break. The cleanse was two months (not the same as you've probably heard about with the flush and all, all natural, and milder), and the detox was supposed to be as long, too. The detox caused me to breakout with such horrible acne, that I just knew something wasn't right. I stayed on it for about five weeks, and had to call it quits. They were both all natural, but the detox had a lot of herbs and heavy-duty vitamins, that I opted not to continue since I believe was reacting to something in them. Their customer service agreed that it might not be working for me.

I know there are a few others here that suffer from MTHFR, and have used anti-coagulants during pregnancy. I was wondering if there were any opinions on Lovenox versus Heparin? I know Heparin causes bone loss with extended use, but the cost is so much higher with Lovenox. Once a pregnancy is achieved, the I could probably get it covered, but during treatment, I'm pretty sure I'll be denied. Just wondering if there are any other risks that I'm not aware of, or if anyone's tried both and has a preference for some reason?

It's great to be back, and I did read that CalleyD has a new addition and I'm over the moon for you!! I have to go back and see your announcement post, and can't wait to read for some old fashioned goosebumps.

Also reading that Tricia is on bed rest. I'm so sorry you're stuck in bed, but just keep focusing on your miracles, and you'll make it through with flying colors..Well flying pink anyway! Congratulations on the "girls" announcement. I'm sorry I missed it...You enjoy the pregnancy and the expected arrival of your princesses.

Q...Good luck with your cycle hon! I have the same feeling about this year being the one...We're all going to get our long awaited BFPs! Good luck hon, and grow follies grow...

Shortee...Great numbers! Go dh Go! I hope the 2ww flies by and your BFP is waiting there at the end!

Googie...Sorry about af...She's such a witch playing games with us. I was doing really great and having longer cycles lasting from 26 to 28 days, and then now as I'm going to start going into a new treatment cycle, she was only 24 days this past month! Ugh! Starts you questioning everything including menopause. At least for me it does...But! There's always the next cycle to keep trying. You hang in there and never give up.

Lisa...I'm sorry for the losses you've had, and that no one should have to faced, but congratulate you on your continued strength. You've made it through another year, and you will persevere. The answer to our prayers will come in 2009!

itsacin...Hello...I don't think we've met. I also have MTHFR (homo C677T), and read that you were asking if anyone else heard about implantation failure with this. I have read that. That's the reason I pursued a new RE who would agree to allow me to be on anti-coagulants from cd6 through, as the late Dr. Beers' protocol called for. There are many that believe the preparation of your uterine lining is just as crucial is supplying proper blood flow to the implanting fetus as it is to the already implanted fetus, and that by waiting until after a BFP is established, it is often times too late. I'm not sure of the validity or the studies that have been done to support it, but I am of the belief that the possible benefits outweigh the risks, for me, and I am giving it a try. My last RE did not agree that this was appropriate treatment, so I switched to another who was more laxed in his approach. He was willing to work with me on my wishes, versus sticking to a straight set of rules that they apply to all patients. I am also taking Folic Acid, B6, B12, Vitamin E, High EPA/DHA Fish Oil and prenatal. I just started taking extra D3 since there are studies that show it has a tie to infertility.

Has anyone tried DHEA? I saw a recent post from someone that this steroid helps with egg quality and quantity. I've not really had an issue with this, but wonder if anyone has talked to their RE about using it? Their thoughts on the subject? I'm just a little wary about trying since it is a steroid and can cause increased testosterone levels. Also wondered if anyone used Prednisone during their treatment cycles? What was your protocol (i.e. dosage on cd's, how long, etc...) I have other autoimmune issues, haven't been tested for any autoimmune issues with regard to reproduction, but just wondering if it would be worth using, "just in case"? Sorry all the questions, but I know I have a wealth of knowledge at my fingertips here, and hoping to get some guidance and advice/opinions. Thanks ladies for listening to my extended rant. I know I've missed some of you, but know that I will catch up and am wishing all your dreams to come true. (((HUGS)))

Hi, all!

Sorry I'm not checking in as often; it's a combination of getting back to work after the holidays and also starting to adjust myself to our family as it is . . . not that's it a bad thing, just that it's a bit different than I'd dreamed about. (Don't I sound whiny?) Anyway, time has been short.

Charity, congrats on the weight loss! I'm a lifetime WW gal, and I firmly believe in the program. It's been awesome for me. You've put in lots of hard work and energy, and look at how much you've done! That's awesome! I'll be lurking and thinking about you as you approach and go through your upcoming cycle--here's hoping you have to take a little 'time out' from WW for a while, huh?

Tricia, keep hanging in there! Thinking of you, too.

itsacin, I owe you a PM. It's been busy--even with being snowbound yesterday!

Everyone else--thinking of you all! I'll be lurking and checking in every so often. Take care!

Charity--

One thought on heparin vs. lovenox: when I first used heparin for my PAI-1, I had two days' worth of nearly non-stop nosebleeds. I also had to do three injections a day. I never had those experiences with lovenox, and lovenox was two injections a day for us. I'm not sure why my RE switched from heparin at first to lovenox in the later cycles, but both he and my OB wanted me on lovenox as quickly after delivery as possible. I switched from lovenox to heparin about four weeks prior to my due date. Heparin has a shorter lifespan in the body, which is why injections are required three times/daily.

I'm no expert. Just sharing my experience.

Hi
Re: heparin/lovenox. I was never given a choice. I was on heparin 2 x daily, and was told it stays in your system for approx. 12 hrs. I bruised really bad at the injection sites, but didn't have any other problems that I'm aware of. At my initial talk w/the Peri he did say that we had a choice to do either the heparin inj. or steriods. He said both have worked, but after a little research, mainly regarding side effects, we opted for heparin.

Happy monday ladies,

LisaBC, thanks for starting the thread. Praying that you get enough $ for tx and to set up that nursery once you get that BFP!

Princess Charity, nice to "see" you. It has been a while. Happy Belated Birthday! Congratulations on the great weight loss!! You go girl!! So glad you are in a good place in life right now. End of Feb will be here before you know it. Sending you BFP vibes... Re: the lovenox v. heparin issue. The late Dr. Beer usually preferred to rx lovenox, but also used heparin if the patient had a preference, or insurance was an issue. As tle mentioned, heparin does have a shorter shelf life. I always started lovenox on cd6, and was switched to heparin around week 37/38 (shorter shelf life, easier to reverse in the event you need to get an epidural, etc). I did lovenox twice a day, from cd6 until six weeks postpartum.
Re: prednisone. I did not use it, I used dexamethasone while ttc and stopped around 12 weeks.

Tricia, nice to see that the girls are still holding steady. Naughty lady, now go back to bed.

tle, hiya!! Sending you hugs. Not being whiny at all it is always difficult to start new life chapters no matter what the circumstances.

Smiley, how are you doing? How is your sister doing? How is the weather treating you?

Hellos to everyone and happy beginning of the week,
Pecan

Just popping in to say hi to everyone and to wish Q the best of luck. I hope all goes ok hon. Charity it's lovely to see you back again and huge congratulations on the weight loss. That's amazing!!! I've only managed 16 pounds so far and that's been a struggle!! Well done you!!

Saying hi to everyone else. Nothing to update from me. Still waiting for our prep course but am feeling calm about that at the moment. I'll chase my social worker at the beginning of Feb for a catch-up if we've not heard anything before then but I know it might take a while.

Love to all

Gem
