Hello Ladies. I just wanted to let all you lovely ladies over 40 know that it is possible! I am 49 and am 4w5d pregnant (as at 6 june 12). My DH is 47. I had a miscarriage last Oct at 6w so I am trying to keep a level head and remain realistic. I have been told at this age I only have a 10% chance of going full term! Last time I had no symptoms and faint BFP's and this time I have all the symptoms and strong BFP's so hopefully that is a good sign. Well... I will keep you all up-to-date on my progress - let's hope I make it to next Feb when I will be 50! x

charlie13,
Congratulations! I heard that a strong BFP is a good sign (well certainly better than faint BFP anyways). So I hope that you'll have a healthy pregnancy! Please keep us updated!

Many thanks ladies for your support and good wishes. I plan to keep this post updated, whether good or bad news, in the hope it will help other ladies of a similar age.
Unfortunately my doctor will not give me any blood tests to check levels so if I make it to next week I will go private for these. x

Congrats hun! What a beautiful and wonderful gift for you. I wish you nothing but the best and yes, it is possible. We have a member on here that is 46 and after years of infertility will be meeting her little girl in August. She is doing wonderfully, so, I hope to see the same for you!

me too!
I'm also 49 (will be 50 in September) I just found out last week that I'm pregnant too (naturally) I have 5 boys already, youngest is 8 and oldest is 26...we were def not trying for a baby but not using any BC either (for many years)..total shock for us! but we consider it a blessing...my last period was May 4, I had implantation bleeding on May 31 through June 1...then my breasts started to hurt and I was urinating all the time..I know the pregnancy signs, so I thought there is probably no way at my age, but I was still having my regular periods every 30 days...so I decided to take the home preg test on the 5th and it was an instant strong positive, I called my doctor and he didn't believe me so he had me come into the office to take another which was positive so he drew some blood work and I go in again tomorrow for more bloodwork..we are all very surprised to say the least...I'm a very fit/healthy 49 year old, I coach little league, I'm a sport fisherwoman, I work from home as an engineer...most people guess my age at mid 30's...I'll keep you posted as well..my due date is Feb 8 if everything goes good...I'll have an U/S hopefully tomorrow to see if they can see a fetal pole..
