Are CVS/Amnio automatically recommended for over 35?
I had my first at 29 and my 2nd at 32. I opted out of EVERYTHING at that time. Somehow, I just knew it would all be OK, and it was. (Naive, but lucky). Now, I'm 38 and I'm more concerned about things that I didn't even wonder about before. At the same time I loathe the idea of having an amnio or CVS. My appt is next Wed and I'll discuss it with the MD. I'd like him to assure me that all will be 100% well without having either of those tests. But- that isn't going to happen, I know!
So, did anyone not have these tests or is it kind of the thing to do in the over 35 crowd?

Congrats on this little miracle Lynn!
I opted out of all the tests... just had very detailed U/s that looked great- had they not I might have opted for a Amnio, but it didn't happen.... many hugs! My little miracle is now a handful!!!!!

I was 37 with my first and 39 now with the second. As long as the NT Scan and accompanying b/w came back looking fine...I was okay with NOT doing CVS or amnio. Had either come back with concerns...I would probably have rethought that.

I have not done the testing. Not even the first blood test to determine if an amnio is needed. I am 37 and this is my third child. I was 27 and 29 with my other two. The Dr. told me the risk of the blood tests come back false positiveare high due to advanced maternal age. Since it won't change our descision to have this baby. We decided to have faith and not have the testing. The Dr. says he call tell if further testing is needed on a U/S. We will decide if something shows as suspicious on the U/s in order to prepare ourselves.

Hello ladies!
I haven't been on in several months because nothing was really going on. My DH and I had been trying for about 9 months (I am now 36YO) and we weren't having any help at the time. I joined as I had a feeling that becoming PG wouldn't be as easy as we had hoped and I was right. I will be starting Serophene during my next cycle with injections of Arixtra every day. I am also on a slew of other meds to "level" out some stuff. I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment and find myself scowling at the people around me who are PG or just happen to get pregnant...like me DH's 22YO sister who wasn't even trying!!! ![]() We also just found out that my DH has a low sperm count. Only 2% normal sperm were found. Not what we wanted to hear but we are trying to stay positive. ![]() I just wanted to touch base since my "journey" has become a little more complicated. I also knew you ladies would be helpful since I only know 1 other friend who has gone through Infetility issues. Thanks for listening ladies and... CONGRATS TO ALL THE PG MOMMIES!!! ![]() ~Audrey

Well, I am 37 and I was told that as long as the NT and the blood work come back OK, I am good to go. I did not realize that the age thing is connected to the test. I was told that it is what the test shows that counts, not how old you are....
