Elderly pgncy

I can only imagine waht was written 2 yrs later with my youngest dd!!!

HEHE!

Anyone else want to vent or need a laugh?

Hmmm...I was also 37 with my first. And he was an IVF baby like yours. At my first OB appt after being released from my RE, the assistant took me back for b/p and weight and after asking me all the customary questions when she found out this was my first at 37 she made a comment about, "Well, you sure waited a long time" or something similar. Normally, I am the type to tell a person off for that type of stupidity but because she caught me so off guard I only managed to mumble something about it not being because we WANTED to wait (I mean...DUH! The fact that we had to do IVF should have told her something! We'd been trying a year and a half with no success before that!) I was pissed. Clearly she missed the class on "what to say and what NOT to say to patients"! And like you...I am now having another 2 years later and that same assistant is still working there. She has said nothing to me and is always quite nice...so I have "ALMOST" forgiven her. But if she ever even comes close to a comment again I will quickly remind her of the rude one she made originally!

I was 32 while pregnant with my daughter. I had a bleeding episode and had to come in for a u/s. The nurse said, "we want to see this one right away due to her ADVANCED maternal age." 32 is ADVANCED???? Well, I am 37 now expecting number 2- I can just imagine what I'll hear.

I have good experiences with people. No one has really said anything about my "advanced maternal age". I am probably the one to bring it up more than anyone else, but mostly from my own expectations of certain "difficulties" that are more common with AMA. But we have been very lcuky and have not had an of those potential difficulties.

On the flip-side, if someone took it upon themselves to educate me about the risks I would be furious!

I ran into one of my co-worker's wives and daughter at Target. I had been doing a little baby shopping. Since we don't knwo the gender about all I had to choose from for clothes colors was brown, yellows and greens. My co-worker's wife says, "brown and greens are boy colors". I just about went through the roof! I think I maintained my composure and said "oh no those are for girls too!" with a smile. At least I tried! I didn't think it was her place. AS if my only option for gender free is yellow!? IMHO, the only genderspecific colors are pink and blue. Anything else is fair game! Don't you think so!.

I guess I can count myself in the lucky column for age related comments- zero that I can recall. Of course my memory due to preganncy brain might be contributing to not rememebering too! lol

Yes, I totally think so. At first, we weren't planning on finding out the sex. So everything we registered for was either green or yellow! (Not a lot of brown though as everything we saw in that color did look "boyish".) But obviously that girl's a little DENSE.

It wasn't hte girl. It was one of my staff's wives and she is a grandma 4 or 5 times over! And used to be a lactation consultant to boot. You would think that of allpeople she would have a clue! lol

I will say that in the past 6 years- colors for babies have changed. The only brown you saw in the baby department was a bear or dog on a boy.... now it is the hot color. I have had a hard time getting used to it- but I have
