Taking a Survey
Ok I will be 37 in another week. My dd is 3 years old. I conceived her on the 3rd round of clomid. Was wondering how many of you around my age conceived with drugs and not IVF.
I am just petrified that I have waited too long trying for a second and need positive feedback on others that are currently pregnant. Thanks.

DD #1 at 39 from gonal-f IUI (second try). She's ~21 months.
Currently 16w pg from gonal-f IUI (third try). So far so good. 37 seems young to me. ;-) IUI is more invasive than drugs alone, but far less invasive than IVF. If your Clomid success was Clomid alone (no IUI) it could work again? You didn't ask, but if it were me I might try a few rounds of Clomid (IUI or not), but not too many. Many think it's not the best choice for 35+ and can stay in your system longer than the cycles during which you take it. Just my two cents. Wishing you luck! -tia PS. There's an excellent 35+ group on the 35+ TTC board... feel free to go over and join the crowd. Lots of good info. You might also post your question on the TTC and/or secondary IF boards.... you may here successes from some who are not currently pg. |

I conceived through Menopur injectibles combined with IUI. It was in April when I was still 38, am 39 now and 28 wks pregnant with my first. At the REI clinic the staff constantly told me 38 was young, not to worry at all!! I also happened to conceive the month after a polyp was removed from my uterus, that the nurse thinks had been acting like an IUD preventing pregnancy all this time... so I likely wouldn't have even had IF trouble to such an extent even at my age... My Yoga teacher had her only child at 44 but not sure if it was IVF or not.
37 is YOUNG!!! ESPECIALLY since you already have a child!!! It's always hardest to conceive the first time. I've heard sooooo many stories of women in their 40's conceiving who already had at least one child. Please don't waste too many cycles on Clomid... I found it to be useless and disappointing with lots of negative side effects like irritability like I'd never felt in my life and hot flushes. I then did Femara (another oral med) and it seemed I was ovulating (unlike on Clomid) but still didn't get pg (probably due to the polyp), so we went right to injectibles since those have such a better chance of working. |

Hi,
I had zero response to clomid. I conceived twice both with IUI: Repronex the first time but m/c'd at 9wks and this time w/repronex and lupron. I'm 16wks pregnant with twins and I'm 36. My EDD is one week after my 37th birthday. I second Tia's suggestion. Join us on the 35+ infertility board. They are wonderful there and many conceived closer to 40 (than 35). Tricia

Hi, Dee32
![]() I'm 41 and got pregnant @ 39 after an Ovarian Drilling...had our daughter in 2007. I should say I have PCOS and that I rarely had AF on my own, until after the birth of Ryanne....since about 6 months after giving birth, I've had regular periods (30-35 days apart) ...I got pregnant out of the blue on our own in May of this year but ended shortly with a m/c. I then was put on Clomid (although YEARS ago I had NO ovulatory reaction to it) and I got pregnant in August but it ended in another m/c in early Oct. I haven't yet decided to re-try Clomid again....but if we do decide to TTC again...I'm quite certain we'll use it's help again. BEST WISHES!! ~Dee Mommy to Ryanne Jan. 9th, 2007 ...our TRUE miracle!!

Hello! I conceived without meds or interventions. That being said I had multiple m/c on my way to my DD#1 at age 38 and now DD#2 (30 weeks along) at age of 43. We would have tried Clomid or injectables with trigger except we were obviously able to conceive just had a hard time getting one to stick. I've been tested for everying under the sun and came back OK, so the assumption was it was my age or problems with placental formation.
We TTC for 1 and 1/2 years for DD#1 and another 1 and 1/2 years for DD#2. How is your diet, weight, stress level and supplementation? (these are good things to optimize/modify no matter what! But especially if you are TTCing!!) I ended getting a pregnancy to stick after reemphasizing meditation in my daily life and after losing 15-20 lbs both times... even though I do not carry a diagnosis of PCOS or Syndrome X or Diabetes. Coincidence? Maybe! But these are things you can do right away that will make you more healthy while you work on your TTCing. Have you seen an Ob yet? -vicki
