Never thought I'd say this...

but dam, I am feeling old!!

This is my second pregnancy (well to 2nd to make it this far) and I am wiped out. I am only 24 weeks and I have turned into a little whiney thing....and I can't stand that!!! but I seem to be getting all the typical pregnancy things (acid reflux, nausea/vomiting...still, back aches, my butt feel like it is spreading on a daily basis, sleeping poorly, round ligament pain, bad dreams about the birth) and I know they are pretty typical.. but it is getting me down!

I can't help but compare this to my last pregnancy when I was 38 and it just didn't seem so hard. Whiney whiney whiney... I am reluctant to tell anyone around me (except my OB who calls me normal.. and my hubby who is smart and stays supportive) because I am an older mom and I don't want to promote any sterotypes that I shouldn't be having kids at "this age". But part of me can't help but wonder if they aren't right!!! Sure I am better emotionally equiped, financially stable blah blah blah... but my body is just so freaking pregnant!!

And underneath all this, I am so grateful to be pregnant, we have been trying for a long time with many false starts but... I keep wondering how I'm going to be in 8 weeks or 16 weeks! Yikes!

thanks for letting me vent... I am feeling a little trapped. -vicki

Have you tried going on walks for exercise? I'm sooooo tired it's ridiculous (sleep till 3pm sometimes although I don't think it's an age thing as much as a 'my body' thing as I'm anemic and have been a tired person always) but I know the days I take my dog on the 2 mile roundtrip walk to the dogpark I feel a lot better all around.

I am a competitive swimmer; I am still lifting (modified) 3x week and swimming a little bit slower than normal) 4x a week. I took a week break to see if it was too much. Doesn't seem to help or hurt. No anemia here! thank goodness. I am just really feeling this pregnancy and didn't just a few short years ago! But good news is there are only a limited amount of weeks left until the next chapter starts and I can put my body (humpty dumpty??) back together again! -vicki

I'm so glad it was just due to some mild illness that will go away because that means you won't have it the rest of your pregnancy! Funny, I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing. Today I felt kinda crummy myself, the nausea keeps coming back when I don't take Unisom so I started taking it again.

It's pretty impressive that you're a competitive swimmer!! You must be in great shape. I keep trying to make it to a pregnancy yoga & fitness class at the gym but haven't made it yet... am so tired I sleep thru the time the class is.
