To Lovenox?

Hi everyone,
I just discovered this site! I am 5 weeks pregnant; I had three miscarriages between 2003 and 2004 (I have a son born in 2002) and tested positive for "both copies" of the MTHFR mutation. Now my peri. wants to put me on the Lovenox but my regular ob/gyn feels it is unnecessary. He says he believes my losses were not related to the mutation but age-related. When I asked him, "well, why not do the lovenox..." he said, "well there is some risk to you and it's giving yourself a shot twice a day but if you want it..." I think we all know a shot twice a day is the least of inconveniences when dealing with pregnancy losses.

So, have others with MTHFR mutation been advised NOT to do Lovenox. My doctor feels we can counter the mutation with the baby aspirin, folic acid and b-vitamins. He just won't consider that the miscarriages weren't age related...

Billygirl - your mailbox is full....I tried to send you a return message this morning! I am so sorry to hear about the falling hcg numbers, but maybe you should ask for a third test just to be sure. I am crossing my fingers and toes that it was a mistake.

I am glad you found a good hematologist who is willing to do whatever it takes. How do you think your OB will take that? I can't see him refusing to be your doctor if the hematologist put you on Lovenox. My OB refers all of those decisions to my hematologist b/c he figures that they know best since blood disorders are their specialty. Makes sense to me!

Anyway, keep your chin up and let me know what happens.

How are things with you, BillyGirl? I just read this and looked up about MTHFR mutation and Lovenox.....I know nothing about either, to be quite honest....but you ARE in my prayers.
