Trans Nuchal test (UPDATED)

I've been a lurkie-loo here......I'm 39, 12 wks pg w/#3 and will go tomorrow for the trans nuchal sono, etc. I just need some positive thoughts from anyone willing to give them! I'm excited and scared too. Also, my 2 prev are a boy & girl and based on my prior pg's I am 100% convinced this is a boy! Not that it matters either way, it doesn't.....Just wanted to share that. No name yet....Donovan? Damian? Nathan? Still working it all out!

Hi Christine:

I'm 37 and currently pregnant with #3 (due in August - 31 weeks). I had the nuchal test done also and it was a pc of cake. It was just a routine u/s and some bloodwork. I went back at 15-17 weeks and had another round of bloodwork and then got my results. My nuchal measurement was .09mm (I was told that anything under 3mm is normal). With all of my tests back, instead of a 1 in 250 chance due to my age, it was 1 in 20,000 for Downs Syndrome. I didn't have any further testing done as I was comfortable with the results and also, I couldn't imagine any chance losing this baby with further testing and we wouldn't have done anything if there was a chance of Downs Syndrome anyhow.

Good luck!!!!

Here's what I have so far, the sono tech said after measuring the neck fold thickness that there is "nothing indicative of abnormality" that she could detect........BUT could not find the nasal bone. So she told the doc and i go back next thurs for a "re-do" sono. Let's pray that little nose bone shows up this time! The baby was upside down curled into a "C" position and she said that may be why it was not able to be seen. Other than that, I am 12 wks today and baby was just slightly over 2 inches in length; i lost 2 pounds (lol), and my bp was up (which i attribute to my nervousness) So I will keep you updated and thank you again for your positive thoughts for my little one!

I'm sure your BP was up due to being nervous! Mine does that just going to the GP *LOL*
Things sound good....continued in my prayers
