FISH results from amnio???
I am going to schedule an amnio for next week.
My question is that insurance doens't pay for the FISH or early results and I may just pay out of pocket for it but have a couple of questions: 1) What do the earlt results show? I am doing this for Downs Possibility 2) How quick do you get those results? I am just trying to see if it is worth it to pay for this. I am stressing out and want to know and if the early test will tell me then I will pay, but what do they tell you. Thanks in advance Kimberly __________________ Kimberelli

I don't know- I didn't have it, and do not think they offered it when I had my children a few years ago. I hope someone else can help.

Hello sorry to barge.. I am having amnio with FISH on Monday the 9th I was told my insurance would cover it, but i guess it just depends on your insurance. The FISH test for trisomy 21, 13 and 18 as well as the sex of the baby. I am having it due to my age 31, iprevious downs syndrome child( my 4 year old) and increased risk due to those factors with my blood results with the 1st trimester screening. 1 : 105 for down syndrome. I was told i will get my FISH results in 48 hours vs. the 10 -14 day wait for amnio results. They are pretty accurate i think around 98% but my Doc assured me in all his years he has never seen the FISH come back wrong. Good luck. I will let you know how my turns out if your would like. BTW why are you having the amnio due to age or test results? Good luck let me know when you amnio is.
