New to the group 40 pregnant and high risk

I am not sure how this site works but I am going to try.

Anyway I work in NYC and live in NJ I am looking for a High Risk OBGYN that someone can recommend please. I am 7 weeks and I went to my GYN and she told me the heart rate is a little slow. I have also lost two babies at 5.5 months over ten years ago.

Please help, thanks

did you post this on the general pregnancy bb too? I know there are some moms on the general parenting bb that are from your area... They may have used a high risk doc in NYC.... I'll post a note over there and refer them to your post after I go pick up the kids from school.
Welcome here! I am sorry about your loss.. I had one too it is still hard.
I hope we can find someone to help you.

Hi--I'm also in New York (Brooklyn) but I unfortunately I'm not sure I have any useful info for you on high-risk OBs.

The OB I have seen (for well woman care, not pregnancy/birth) is Dr. Russell, who is affiliated with Long Island College Hospital out here in Brooklyn. Not sure if that would be convenient for you, and I'm not sure if she is specifically geared to high-risk pregnancies. I really liked her--she has a very warm, comforting manner which I find not common in the medical profession, frankly. She is a 50s-ish black woman, and I figure as a woman and a black person, she probably has to be twice as smart and talented to get where she is! (I'm not using her for the birth because I decided to go with a midwife instead, whose office is 3 blocks from my house.)

If you are interested in checking her out, the phone number I have for her (possibly outdated?) is 718-780-1972.

Her colleague is Dr. Kachiwabara, who was recommended to me also, but I don't know her--perhaps she is high-risk, but I have no idea.

Good luck with everything.

Tracy

I can recommend Dr. Michael Moretti who is affiliated with St. Vincent's on Staten Island or Dr. Alexander Kofinas who is affiliated with Methodist Hospital (affiliated with Cornell) in Brooklyn (he also has an office in Garden City, Long Island). Both are excellent, however, I feel Dr. Kofinas has a better bedside manner. I recommend both highly. I had PIH for both pregnancies and was on bedrest for most of my first pregancy wherein I gave birth to DD. In addition to PIH, I had GD for my second pregnancy in which I gave birth to DS. I am grateful to both of them and applaud them for their skill and excellence. I can't say enough about both of them.

Good luck with your pregnancy.
