40 TTC after miscarriage
I feel I am deluding myself. I just had a miscarriage and I am scared to try again not sure that I have any good eggs left and that I will have to go through this pain again. Is there anyone out there who had a successful first pregnacy after a miscarriage and is over 40? Please let me know there is hope.

I'm 37 and had a miscarriage last month and D&C on Nov. 5. I was 10 wks pregnant. It's been very very emotional and even though I am terrified that it will happen again, I know that I have to try or I will regret it. I started AF today, so, we're hoping to start trying again right away as my OB said that it was perfectly fine.
I have a 14 yr old ds and a 10 yr old dd. I think that there is hope for everyone and if you really want this and your Dr says that there is no health reason that you can't have a normal pregnancy at 40, then you should try. There are all kinds of risks in life but sometimes they are worth taking. |

Hi - I know how difficult this is. I am now 41. I had my dd at age 38 and began ttc when she was six months old. After nearly two years of trying and two early miscarriages, we sought treatment. Although the RE gave us a 10% estimate of success, the first IVF attempt worked (of the 6 eggs, 4 fertilized and 3 were implanted). I am now 27 weeks pg. Don't give up hope without talking to a specialist.

hi, dodiedon,
i, too, know the discouragement you describe and can relate to your fear of another m/c. i'm 41 and had my first child at 37. at 39, i ttc #2 for 2 years, experiencing 2 m/c--one at 8 weeks from an IUI and the second very early after my first IVF. i kept going after numerous IUIs and injectibles, and i ultimately pursued an immune panel blood test from a new RE, found i had a minor blood clotting disorder (MTHFR). i just went thru my second IVF while on lovenox (blood thinner for the MTHFR), transferred 4 5-day blasts, and am now 7 and 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins. i think it's always worth trying as long as you feel you are able--financially, emotionally, spiritually. it's such a personal journey. i wish you the best ![]() jen |

Hi...
I know how scary it is to try again after such heartbreak. I had my first ds after 7 m/c's, he was born after soon after I turned 40 and he was my 10th IUI. I had my second ds just before my 42nd birthday!!! he was a 'natural' miracle!! There is hope, especially since you did get pg! Let your heart heal from this loss, and then make your decision! ((hugs)) smiley

Don't give up! It's way too early! I have a friend who had her second child in her mid 40's after 6 years and multiple m/c. She ate organic and did acupuncture for a year and it worked! Eastern medicine believes women are fertile till age 49! Acupuncture can work to lower FSH, help with blood flow, etc. Everyone practices differently. Her guy put needles in and twisted them and then used moxa. Others practice differently. I went to him almost daily for a month. I saw a change in my menstrual cycle (longer blood flow) and my ovulation changed. The following month I ovulated almost a week later than usual. My body started reverting to the way it was when I was in my twenties. IF is a VERY hard road. You have to know what you are prepared to do and how much you can take emotionally while you push forward. But at least you should be informed of what's possible, not just what the challenges are. Read books by Julia Indichova. She will give you hope and help you not to give up. She conceived in her 40's and helped many other women do so as well.
