Age 42, thinking of IVF again, child mnt.
Well am I nuts? OB thinks it is fine, and she is actually optimistic. I have my appt. set up for October 4th for the re eval. with RMA of NJ. I am very sad though, the sp donor DH and I used is no longer available. I was so hoping they would have the same biological donor. I wish I could appeal to this person. My little guy is so happy and healthy, and has such a wonderful personality. We are enjoying his antics so much. Is there anyone thinking about starting again please let me know? We are trying to keep this quiet since everybody has an opinion. Ya know be thankful that you have one healthy child, do you really want to put yourself through this, can you afford it? Blah, blah............So I am trying to brace myself if it is successful for all of the comments and unsolicited advice.

Beth -
I'm 41, will be 42 in March. We just did a cycle at RMA and no one batted an eyelash at my age (only to give me the usual warning that my eggs are on the "old" side. As you can see from my sig, we finally had success. I responded well this time - they got 9 follicles, did ICSI on 7, and 6 fertilized. They put 5 back and I had my first u/s this morning and it looks like there is one lovely egg sack in there. Good luck!

Thank you both
My appt. is Wednesday to say the least I am still so nervous. I am not sure what to expect. I am really sad because we had to use a donor for my husband and there is none available of the same donor that we used for my son. Thank you so much. I will try keep the mantra, what is to be is to be. Thank you again.

It is with Dr. Scott. I actually cancelled it this am. The baby was up all night. He going for tubes in his ears at the end of the month. I have someone coming from another office to work with me this week. It is just a really bad week (mentally). I am not sure what we are doing about the donor. The cryobank stated that it will cost 5,000 dollars IF the donor agrees. So we have to take just a little more time to consider our options. I will probably go in November or the beginning of December. If this works they will be about 2 years apart. Thank you and take care.

HI
I didn't get lucky until I was 41 LOL. Then we went again at 43 and hit the jackpot again. If you are crazy then I must be totally INSANE as we are thinking of having just one more and I am now 46. Mind you we would only be doing an FET.Sorry to hear about your donor. Isn't there some way the clinic can contact him and let him know you are trying again?

Funny you should post today chld mnt.
I just spoke to the RN today and I will be starting on the BC pill around February 5. I have to have a baseline US and bloodwork on day 3, and they want to do another saline US. It forced us to make a decision and chose another donor. It feels a little strange. We were told by Fairfax that they require $5,000 and it would be up to the donor. The specimen would need to be quarantined again and so another wait, and I am not getting any younger. I am tired and doing work at home right now so that is why I got your email. I pray we succeed but I am ready for a no answer also, and I will not have to wonder what if.... I was suppose to start this January but we were very fortunate to have been given a trip to Cancun by DH employer. We are leaving Sunday. So if all goes well it will almost be a 2 year age difference. I say you should go for it if you have your health, energy and resources age should not stop you. Take care and I will send an update when the real fun begins (shot, shot shots). Beth
