Eleni, YIKES! Yes, thank goodness you called! Now how on earth did you get that drat infection? It's the worst! I've been drinking about 4oz of cranberry juice daily for about two decades! Can't stand the pain of infection! Good luck, dear! And feel better fast!
Peb, I'm in week 14 today too! Sorry about the constipation. That's the worst feeling, I swear. It's worse knowing that nothing helps. But it's good to look at the bright side...being pg!
hugs,
Tsquare

T2 - UTIs are common in pg apparently from what the nurse said and what I've been reading. Your 4oz of prophylactic cranberry juice may keep it at bay!

I think that's a lesson to us all to not ignore things! Much easier to be told nothing's wrong and feel a bit silly than to actually have an infection ... imagine if you'd let it go on!!! I think I'm gonna go buy some cranberry juice just in case. Reminds me of the time I bought my DP cranberry juice and wanted to get the "best" and got 100% cranberry juice, no sugar added.
Unfortunately I wasn't there at first taste ... I think we ended up mixing it with OJ.
I personally can't stand the stuff ... what kind do y'all buy?

My Natural Healing book recommends the pure unsweetened stuff, which I know is harder to swallow. I like the Northland Brand b/c it has no added sure (but its nothing like the pure juice).

Eleni, the ingredient in cranberry juice that works on UTIs is actually a sugar called "d-mannose." You can get it in a powder form at health food stores and just mix that into water or tea if you're all cranberry-juiced out. I keep a supply if in case I feel a UTI coming on.
One caveat -- cranberry juice/d-mannose will only work if your UTI is caused by e-coli bacteria. If it's caused by another bacteria only antibiotics will do the job, so it's always good to get a uranalysis, esp. when PG.
Tsquare -- yes, being PG is the bright side! And I do have a prescription laxative to take when relief is badly needed...but I use that sparingly because it works TOO well, if you know what I mean!

Eleni, I hadn't heard that pg women are prone to UTI's? Sorry it found you.
Let's hope it's a short stay!
