Going for my first ultrasound Wed

Don't know what to expect!!! I am 5wks today. Will they be able to see a heartbeat and will they be able to see if multiples!!

Had my first IVF - transfer on Father's Day (6/18/06) and I felt pregnant right away. In fact, my clothes are already tight!

What was everyone else's experience with the first internal ultrasound?

Good luck tomorrow Kim! I am not sure what you can expect - but I think if they don't see a heartbeat - not to fret - I heard it's really early. Here in Canada - because I was a 'natural' pregnancy and over 40 they wouldn't even do an u/s until about 9/10 weeks. I think though that they will be able to see if there is more than 1 sac.

Keep us posted!

Kim,
They will be checking for a sac (or more) tomorrow. I don't think they will be expecting much more than that, as far as yolk sac or h/b.

BUT if they don't see a sac, don't be too upset. We didn't see mine until 5w6d, even though they insisted it should have been there by 5w2d.

Good Luck!!

I would not expect heartbeat(s), but you will be able to see
a sac or sacs! The earliest the heartbeat can usually be seen is
at 6.4 weeks. Some moms record seeing it earlier, but statistically
it's not expected until then and sometimes it is even later, depending
on the ultrasound machine. Good Luck!

OMG! When is your next u/s? How do you feel? Shocked, I'm sure. Did you do IVF? Hoping things go well for you and your babies.

This is our first IVF cycle which thankfully is positive. We are just thrilled. Our next internal U/S is 7/20 so we will see!!! I am telling you though, at 5 1/2 weeks I already have a stomach and will soon be in maternity clothes because everything it tight!
