Nuchal Scan Went Well

Hey Ladies--As you already know, the weekly thread keeps kicking pp out of the site, so I'm going to make a new thread regarding my Nuchal translucency scan I had last Friday.

I had my OB appointment the evening before and the h/b was 155. I felt better about going for the scan the next day.

We got a nice long look at the baby, compared to the quick peak we got at the RE--of course there wasn't much to look at back at 6-7 weeks!.

It was jumping around and moving like crazy!! One minute we are looking at its face, the next we are looking at the top of its head--we got to see the brain--the next we are looking at its back and its spine. And it appears to have already discovered its thumb!! Once he/she settled down, we could see the heart beating and we got to see both of its hands--appeared to be resting on his/her chest . . Probably tired from all the jumping around!!

Technition measured the neck area three different times and it came out 1.6 and 1.8. Which are considered good. The doctor came in after the tech and looked too--sort of makes me nervous when the doc had to look too, but he said the same thing she did--its a good looking baby and things appear good.

They poked my finger and filled these little circles on a piece of paper with my blood--A new kind of finger painting my mom never let me do! Its for some blood tests that they also run that can so indicators of birth defects. Of course neither the scan or the bloodwork actually diagnosis an issue, just gives indications that there could be an issue.

Overall we are pleased. When I see the doctor later this week, I'll hopefully hear good news.

I've attached pictures for those who can see. The 3d one is kind of neat! Didn't have that with my last one!!

I'd like to know, DH is on the fence. I think if we could have found out at this last scan, we would have, but I know he isn't sure he wants to know yet.

It makes buying baby cloths more difficult. It seems like there is so much boy or girl but not a whole lot of neutral.

Melissa - So happy for you. Great news and so very exciting. It just gets better and better doesn't it? You and your DH must be on cloud nine.
