Normal Progesterone Levels?

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I just found out today that I am PG with my first child at 36 - after 7 years of trying!

I was told my progesterone level is low - it was 14. My Dr. prescribed vaginal progesterone suppositories. Has anyone used these? And what kind of side effects did you have? With the flurry of questions in my mind, I didn't think to ask the Dr. what a "normal" level of progesterone should be. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Sammy

Hi Sammy,

My level at 4 weeks was 18.5 and 10 and 5 weeks! My dr. prescribed vaginal suppositories (100 mg 2x day). At six weeks my level was 20. They do work and even though they are messy, they're well worth it! I stayed on them until 13 weeks. I was told that over 20 is a normal level. I had no side effects at all that I ever noticed. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me. Best of luck with your pregnancy!

over 20 is what they like to see. They are messy- you may want to wear a light pad- but they do the trick! Post again and Congrats!

Hi- I take progesterone also. You can also ask for Crinone, it looks similar to a plastic tampon. You hold the end, shake it down ward, snap off the end and insert and squeeze. Not messy, no residue etc. I was give the suppositories and asked for the Crinone instead.

Hi,

I was on Prog supp for both my PGs until 12 weeks. My Dr.'s were satisfied with the level being over 15. I stayed on the supps until 13 weeks and everything was fine. My levels never went above 22 even with the supps.

Good luck to you.
