Secrets to your success

Hi Ladies;

I'm over 35 and have been ttc for 3 years now. I've just completed my first IVF - BFN and would like to hear from you some secrets that you attribute to your success. We don't seem to have any trouble with egg quality or sperm quality (7 embryos made it to blast stage). Any good diet or drug suggestions for me to discuss with my RE?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Riser35

Sorry to hear your bad news Riser35. This is my first BFP and I had two main differences this cycle and them some minor stuff.
1. I used Gonal-F and Menopur (all the other times I used Repronex). Menopur is supposed to be a purer form. They also did a slower cycle with less drugs but for a longer period (I tend to OHSS) I had 35 eggs retrieved. Last time I had 21 with a faster, stronger, Repronex cycle.
2. I was 37 at time of transfer and we transferred 5 this time. We only did 2 or 3 on my other 3 transfers.
3. I did 3 and a half days of bedrest this time and stayed very stationary for the remaining 2 weeks. I didn't go out after work or really much on the weekend. Every night after work I came home and lied on the couch and watched TV.
4. Caffeine - Didn't even drink decaf coffee or chocolate. Also tried to stay away from sweets.
5. Did acupuncture and drank the tea (did this previously too)

Best of luck to you,
Beth

It's a tough road but hang in there. I haven 't been on this site for over a year or so but saw your post and had to reply.

I had perfect grade 1 embryos too and we had no idea why I wasn't getting pregnant. We did 3 IVF's and one frozen cycle, the frozen cycle the embroys even went to blast. I had a chemical pregnancy but still didn't get pregnant. On our 5th and LAST IVF I wanted to do everything I could think of. I used Gonal F and actually cut down on the amount as my eggs were always mature by day 7 of stims and we got around 14 each time. By the way I was 40 by now. I think there were two main factors that worked this time. I did IVIG which is rather controversal but I didn't care, it was my last chance and noone knew why I wasn't getting pregnant with such beautful, perfect little embroys. I also did assisted hatching although the Dr told me I didn't need to. This time I put back 4 (I usually on did 3) and wanted to cover all my basis. This was our last try and I didn't ever want to look back and say I should have done this or I should have done that. On the day of transfer the Dr said because they did ICSI they had already put a hole in the egg and I didn't need assisted hatching, but being older I know the shell can be harder so I insisted he did it on 2 of the 4. I now have 3 year old twins. I am sure it was a mixture between the IVIG and assisted hatching and I'm just so glad I only did the assisted hatching on 2 and not all 4.
Good luck, I hope this help
