Introduction --- like to get to know you pg gals !
Hi there,
I'm pregnant and > 35 ... OK, I'm pregnant and > 40 and thought that it was about time that I met you all over here !I finally feel comfortable posting after having an u/s today .... long story but my AFP came back flagged as +ve screen (1:100 for DS). We were not too worried about this as it often happens with older gals, but then the Level II detected a soft marker too (slightly enlarged lateral ventrical). I freaked --- wanted an amnio immediately. Had to wait a day (I'm on heparin and had to come off it for 24 hrs prior) and -- PHEW -- our son is fine (yes, a wee boy ). Today was an u/s to see how the ventrical had since developed and all looks to be normal.I also had a LEEP procedure so they always check cervical length, so far so good. This is our first baby after yrs of trying, can finally feel a little more excited !! Would love to meet fellow mums in my age group .... if you wouldn't mind letting me know also .... How old you are ? (I'm 41) How far along you are ? (I/m 19w 5d) Is this your first ? (yes !). Thanks !! Teresa

Hi Teresa,
Great to finally have you here! I know your road has been long and we share past problems. I hope you are beginning to enjoy your pg! I too would walk on eggshells until I was passed my loss date. That is such a milestone. I am happy to see that the u/s was good. Keep that cervical lenght long.... and start shopping for blue! BTW boys are great BTW I am 41 for a few more days...JenC

Hi Teresa:
Congratulations! You must be thrilled. I had a huge scare with my amnio results and my gp dr. messing up so the last week has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me but everything turned out okay. I am 43 years old. I will be 19 weeks tomorrow. This is my 3rd pregnancy - I have 1 gorgeous son - he's 11 and he has autism -he's taught me much had 1 miscarriage almost 4 years ago and kept trying after with no luck - was told without intervention I would not get pregnant (this is not an option as we live in a small town 300k from the city in which I would have to go and with my son well it was not possible.) So after much thought last spring dh and I gave up and this our little surprise/miracle/gift. |

Hi Ladies...
I have not posted on this board in a while. This is our first child, after a dozen years of trying this pregnancy seems like it is taking FOREVER!!!! I am currently 33w5d. It is a boy, and his name is Chance.

Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son. |
