Am I crazy?
Hi, I'm new to this board, after 2 1/2 years of doing the fertility thing we are finally pg. I am so excited but every time I think about it I get so worried that something will happen. I'm not having any pg. symptoms which I know is normal but certainly not helping my cause any. I go for my U/S on the 9th of Feb. to see the baby's heartbeat, what happens if they can't find it? I feel like I am making myself crazy with worry and feel almost "cheated" out of a normal pg. because we refuse to tell anyone (just a few close friends and family) in case something goes wrong. This is such a hard secret to keep. Any advice to calm my nerves? Is this normal? BTW..I have never had a miscarriage and have one healthy son who is almost 13. Thanks, looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Dear JNJ, first, congratulations to you! Second, pray and think positive thoughts. IMAGINE yourself holding your baby in your arms and staring into that precious face. It will come to fruition. I had only 1 embryo transfered after losing 4 other "bad eggs" and that one took and I'm due May 5th. I had a miscarrige in 2004 and was devastated. But I kept telling myself from the day of transfer that I was pregnant and that from in9 months I would be looking into the face of my child. BELIEVE that you will see a heartbeat. Delight in this time and TRUST that everything will be alright.

Hey there JNJ,
Gosh it took us so long to get here no wonder we fret !! We tried for 5 yrs and did get pg last yr (but lost the pg). We were PETRIFIED that when we got pg again (both from IVF) that it wouldn't work out, but it did !! I'm almost 20 wks now and all looks good ! Also, I had NO symptoms either time (which was scary) but it just turned out that I was really really lucky ! No barfing over the loo for me .... no food aversions .... nothing ! I did get headaches later on and minor h/burn but that was it .... So, perhaps you'll just be really lucky and sail through early pg as I have although I hate to say that there is still lots of time for the horrid symptoms to kick in ....Hang in there .... not too long until the 9th !! All the best Teresa

Am I crazy?
Hi JNJ:
You are not crazy. I felt exactly the same way up for quite awhile. I think it's a protection response - you don't want to get your hopes up - I miscarried at 11 1/2 weeks almost 4 years ago and it devastated me. So this time I told my dh we weren't telling anyone and we would just take it day by day. I was upset that I couldn't enjoy the pregnancy at first more. I also don't get ms so other than being a tad more tired at night at bedtime no symptoms plus my breasts did get sore/larger. But somedays I would think I have no symptoms I have no symptoms - something must be wrong. The only thing I will tell you is that as the time goes on and things progress so will your feelings/outlook. I was almost in tears at my first u/s 9w6d. Then at 14w the dr. said she couldn't find a heartbeat so had to go for a u/s the next day - spent that day worried wondering - only to see a better and active little one moving around! I was still worried as I had opted for an amnio and didn't know if 1. the baby would be okay through the procedure or 2. the test would come back ok. But luckily everything is fine. I did try and remain positive and kept saying what will be will be. And part of me did believe that this was a miracle and an unexpected gift and everything would turn out okay (even if I had doubts). Good luck. Only a another week - how far along will you be?
