Unexpected Pregnancy at 45

Hello - just giving you an update - it's oldermama or my name is Barbara (forgot to post that before). Went to the drs. last Monday (14 weeks) get there and the Obygn goes on and on about how I could have a late stage miscarriage due to my age. Then she checks my uterus - says its growing but she couldn't find a heartbeat. So then she said I was to meet her in hospital next am for a ultrasound. When I got there the nurse was rude - asking why I was there - when I told her my age - she grunted 'humph' as if it's an outrage that someone my age is pregnant. My dh said I should have said something but to be honest I was too shocked and I was scared about the US results. Anyway, long story short - the heartbeat and baby came right up on the us and structurally the dr said everything looked good. I am now 15 weeks - going for an amino next Monday.- because I live in a small town must travel for it. Dh has to stay home as it's too much for our son to travel that far etc. Very scared about it but as I already have a disabled child - feel I at least need to know. I just have to believe that everything will go okay and be okay but I need to know. Thanks for your thoughts. Will let you know how it goes.

Olderma/Barbara-
Congrats on the heartbeat and baby! I cannot believe they acted that way... shame on them.

Tell me about your son. You can pm me if you wish. I too had a son with a disability. I/we spent years in "that community"
Best to you during your amnio... maybe everyone will be nicer!

Just wanted to say good luck on your amnio and hope that all is OK... It sounds as if your doing some juggling right now with having another child but it will be worth it. Glad to see your back and please update...Praying that the rest of your pg is uneventful.

Barbara,

That's great news...the heartbeat and a good u/s!!! Congratulations! I don't know if I'd have been able to hold myself back with that nurse. She should find another line of work! All the best to you!

Update on amnio

Hi: here's my update (oldermama)

Thank you for asking - had the amnio and although it was uncomfortable - it was not that bad. Had some mild cramping afterward but nothing else. Finally got the results back after 2 weeks and a HUGE mess up by my drs. office (but won't bore you with the details but am switching drs.). Everything is fine according to those tests. Chromosomes etc. So that is a big relief for us.

Other than that feeling better now - a bit more energy now into second trimester.

Hope everyone is well.

Barbara
