I just did IVF with my own eggs even though my doctor told me to forget it. I'm glad I didn't listen. I'm 41. I stimmed with gonal f and Menopur. I wouldn't use Repronex. Egg quality with Menopur seems to be much better than with Repronex. My egg quality this time was better than at 38. I had 12 follicles, they retrieved only 5 eggs and only 4 fertilized. We transferred 3 on day 3 and the quality of one of them was excellent. The other 2 were not perfect but good. I got pregnant and my doc was shocked. Unfortunately, it ended up in my tube, but we have sent the products of conception for genetic testing. We believe because of how strong the embryo was growing that it was normal. I plan to try again with my own eggs even though my doc has advised against it. All it takes is one good egg so I don't see what all the fuss about huge egg quantity. I'm also switching to a full Menopur cycle next time to try to improve the quality even more. I hear this is a growing trend and works well with older women. By the way, DH has lousy sperm and we didn't use a donor either. Opted for ICSI.

Hope you don't mind me responding, even though I will be 39 in 3 weeks. It seems like "over 40" is just around the corner. Anyhow, we had male IF as well as me having PCOS. We did donor IUI and got pregnant on the 3rd try. I am currently 18w5d. I might add that we tried DIUI 6 times way back when I was 28 and did not have success. It's funny how things work out. I don't think anything magical happens at 40. I do know there is a steady decline in fertility, especially after 35. Good luck to you.

I will be 40 in early Jan. and did get pregnant the first IUI cycle using Follistim (150). I'm not sure how things are at this point will know more tomorrow. Inseminations were Sept 10 & 11. Betas were 59 on Sep. 26th, 92 on Sept. 28, 159 on Sept 30th, and 605 on Oct. 4th. I will be having one tomorrow along with an utrasound to ensure that it's not in the tubes. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. I really don't have any symptoms at this point. I hope that this info will be helpful and I will let you know how I make out tomorrow. Thanks,
Deb |

I am 41 and just got pg on my third IUI. I am only 5 weeks along but used my own eggs. I had a low FSH so I wasnt concerned that they were an issue and my RE wasnt at all concerned about my age. I had been trying for 12 years to get pg, sometimes on my own and sometimes with treatments, I have never been pg before. Right now I am just praying that this baby sticks. Lots of people get pg over 40-remember we are suppose to be the new 30!

Gosh, I am almost embarassed to say we only used clomid and accupuncture and I am 41. When the little bean is born (May 20th) I will be 42 and DH 53. This is our second pg this yr- we m/ced in April using the same methods.
I sure hope I have enough energy to run around behind this little one. It will be the first for both of us. Abilene. |

I become pregnant with DD at the age of 38 from an FET using my own eggs. I'm now 40 and expecting again in January (I'm 24w). I'll be 41 when this baby is born. This time we conceived naturally!! A very pleasant surprise.
