Should I say something to the DR?
I am 42 and around 10 weeks pregnant with DIVF. I was recently graduated from my RE and called my OB/GYN for my first appointment. I mentioned that I was an IVF patient but didn't mention my age or the fact that I went into preterm labor with my first pregnancy. To make me even more of a nervous wreck, I had a miscarriage at ten weeks before. I am not scheduled to see the DR until week 13, and I am wondering if that is normal. When you guys graduated, what did you tell the OB and is 13 weeks a long time to go without an exam. I was considered high risk with my first son due to age but I can't remember when I had my first visit. What do you guys think?

HI Missy and Congrats!
Your first OB visit is 3 weeks away right? Are you still doing progesterone? My RE released me approx 8 weeks and I usually saw the OB a few weeks later (10 wks). Is this a new OB? You may want to call and ask for an earlier appt if you will feel more comfortable. Let us know, JenC

I stop my PIO shots tomorrow but am still doing 2 suppositories for two weeks and two estrogen patches until next week. I guess I am so drugged up that chances are this baby is not going anywhere but I thought that once before too. It is the same DR office as last time but I will be seeing a new DR.
Thanks for the response and I will keep thinking positive. I am actually going up north for a few weeks and will have more help with my three year old so I may be able to relax. My morning sickness is still full blast but the meds for that are working but make me tired. I guess it is just another two week plus wait....i should be used to this by now!!! |

I graduated from my RE starting week 11, had my first OB appt with nurse practioner on week 13. FYI...I did not get an u/s at this visit. I had to fill out paperwork due to my age of 41. I didn't disclose that I used DE. I was sent to get genetic counseling due to my age. They just wanted to make me aware of all of the test available but we declined of course since none of the results would be accurate based on my age.
MissyGA just remember you used eggs of a young donor! Sorry to hear you have m/s. In a few weeks hopefully it will be better! Best of luck to you. |

Hi,
I graduated from RE at 8 weeks and made appointment with OB for 12 weeks. I thought about it for a few days and decided to call back to get in earlier. When I called the doctor's office back, the girl (different one) told me that they really like to see patients before 12 weeks. She said they like to do bloodwork and other tests before 12 weeks. They were able to get me in at 9 weeks. They did b/w, a pap and full gyno exam. We also had the "do's and don't's chat." I agree this is better done earlier if possible. Jackie |

I also saw the regular Dr before week 13. I was released from my RE at 8 weeks and saw the Dr at 10 1/2 weeks. I was still on progesterone and estrogen patches until 12 weeks though, which compared to others seems like a long time.
I agree with wolfjack7. I think the Dr likes to do certain tests before week 12. |
