Egg donor, where?

I am 40 and today I had my IUI, this is my 3rd, I am not feeling very positive because all of them have been negative and additionally I had two IVF's with 4 FET, all negative.

I've been thinking very seriously into the egg donor protocol, where can I find information related to this? I live in Canada

What about cost and the matching process?

You might want to post your question on the donor boards under infertility as well.

Cost varies depending on who you go with. Agencies are a lot more expensive than going with an RE that has a donor pool. I think I read somewhere that Canandians have to travel to the states for the procedure as your country does not allow it anymore?

My entire donor cycle was over $30k. I went with an agency because the selection was much better, got to see detailed info on our donor as well as photos. We did a mock cycle prior to starting to see how my lining would react to the meds. It really seemed that when you start cycling you are really not doing much at all. My protocol consisted of being on bcps/lupron then estrogen patches then PIO and prog supp.

My donor had to go through a medical, psych eval as well as blood screens. The whole process took me about 3.5-4 mos before I could start. Finding the donor was the most difficult part for me.

Hope that helped you in some way? Good luck to you!

yes your information is very helpful, you summarize what I am going to face, a round idea of the $$'s and where to start.

Once again, thanks a lot

I am in Indiana and also used donor eggs. I went through my RE so there wasn't too much of a selection, but frankly that wasn't a huge concern of ours. They did have a proven donor... had cycles which resulted in pregnancy. This was very important to us. She had gone through tests as well, and they made sure she had no history of all the typical diseases/disorders.

The cost was just over $17,000. However, this only covered the donor. This did not cover any of my meds or the transfer or ultrasounds or the ICSI.

Hope another perspective helps. Good luck
Maria

Another option (depending on your situation) may be "embryo donation". This is the route we took at our clinic in Seattle, WA. There was no cost for the embryos (proven embryos) and we waited approx. 8 months for them from the time we were put on the list as the clinic had just started the embryo donation program. We did not try and match characteristics otherwise it might have taken longer at that time. Going this route is a lot easier on the pocket book and the FET was much easier on my body.

If you'd like more info you can pm me.

Thank you ladies for the quick replies. I do not have a lot of knowledge about egg donor issues. Little Miracle- you may want to ask this also on the parenting after 35 bb.
