Thanks Angela,

The info you gave me was very helpful. We are military and are stationed in Mannheim, Germany so most likely I will have the baby at the Klinikum it's a hospital that I am not too crazy about, but I have no choice. I hope I will be able have a vaginal delivery. I'm a little scared to have a child over here. Thanks again for the information. Are you miltary as well?

Germany and IVF

No, I am an American who married a German and I work over here for an American company. We live in Bavaria outside of Munich.
Wish I were military though because then I could get some U.S. groceries. I miss Cheerios and Brianna's salad dressing.

Have you noticed that the IVF philosophy is a bit different here? The docs seem a bit conservative compared to my U.S. counterparts who have had IVF. The stim dosages are lower, for instance.

Sorry I am just replying I didn't realize you had replied. Yes I agree with you the doctors here are very conservative and nonchalant. I had a little spotting the other day (dark brown blood)at work so I went to the emergency to see if I could be checked and the doctor that checked me was conservative so you put it. She put me on bedrest for 5 days and said everything looked fine, but she didn't check my vitals or ask me what I have been doing to cause the bleeding or anything. I basically had to ask her all the questions. I did ask her to check my pressure because I felt like it may be up and just like I thought it was up a little.

I had bleeding (a lot) one night in Week 11 and got the same treatment. I went to the hospital though and stayed there for a few days. It was scary because at my age, the miscarriage rate is so high.

My brother, who is a doctor, tells me that over half of the bleeding cases do not end in miscarriage and that nobody knows what causes it. I guess that is why the docs don't ask any questions about it.

Ok because I was wondering why they didn't ask anything. I have been looking online today and I see that the dark blood is nothing too much to worry about. I change to a Obgyn this week once I get an appointment with him, everytime I call I get a recording that of course is in German. I am out of work until Friday and I am suppose to have a doctor's visit before I can go back to work. Well thanks again for listening and the advise, it's nice to know someone that is over here in Europe who can relate to what it's like over here pregnant. TTYL
