I am so new to everything it is nice to find a site that you can compare with moms who are the same age.

I learned of my pregnancy on my 41st birthday. My first IVF with my own eggs. I had twins but one did not make it out of the first trimester. My other one is growing and doing very well (thank God). I am 18.5 weeks.

Also, I had every symptom of morning sickness that existed even down to breaking out in hives and over-salivating. It has weaned off but still I get occasional nausea and am battling persistent insomnia.

I wish blessings to all in this site for safe and healthy pregnancies.

I turned 41 yesterday. I am going in for a CVS on Monday. My last pregnancy was trisomy 18 and I lost the baby. I am so afraid i will get the same results again. Does anyone know the statistics on that?

Hi ladies.
My RE said to take Unisom also. Did last night, the m/s is a little better but I still don't want to eat anything but crackers & chicken soup. Ugh.

Give it a day to "kick in". I am now down to 1/2 every night and things are tolerable. Good luck!

HI ladies ,

May I join your group? I will be 41 in June. I had FET on March 10th and I am pregnant. I go in for my first ultrasound on Friday. YAy! 2 more days!!! I am a little nervous. I have had some spotting, breasts are killing me, nipples are burning, feeling nauseated at times and had diarrhea.

thanks so much!!

5 wks pregnant and no symptoms

I just turned 40 last month and just found out I am PG thru IUI last week. I am 5wks. I went to my RE on Friday and Monday for bloodwork, my Hcg levels went from 200 to 1020. But as of this morning, I no longer have pregnancy symptoms (bloating, sore breasts, heartburn) and I am worried. I had a m/c last year and I'm afraid it will happen again. I'm scheduled for my first u/s on the 20th.
Has this happened to anyone and the pregnancy was fine?

Hi ladies yes I am 41 and pregnant with my first bio child through IVF. We have 2 children that we adopted 3 years ago that we love dearly however this child will be our first birth child. I am 10 weeks almost 11weeks. All of my ultrasounds and hsg blood test have been great. I have lots of heartburns which I had before we got pregnant ,but now they are 10 times worse and I have extreme constipation all the time, but aside from those things I feel pretty good for my age. Oh yea I also have a little morning sickness ..mostly gagging thou nothing ever really comes up. (sorry gross I know).

over 40

Yes, I am no longer pregnant with my first and probably only child since I had her in April.. But at age 41, through IVF, with my own eggs, I did it. She is the light of my life.

I have two frozen embies that I will try next year. ....we will see.

Question AngelaSK07

Hi ,
I am in Germany too...I did one cycle over here in Heidelberg with my own eggs and got pregnant. We are so happy and feel so blessed. I wanted to ask you how was your experience having your baby here? Ihear that epidurals are hard to get here if no epidural then what do you get for pain? I have a low pain tolerance. Thanks

Pain

Hi Marvella,

Well, I had the epidural but before that point they would not give me anything at all. I really hated that.
The baby's heart rate went down too far too many times so they performed a C-section. After the C-section, the strongest thing they gave me was paracetamol with codeine plus some Voltaren. They kept the epidural line in me for a couple of days as well after the C-section but it only made my legs numb.

For sure you would get stronger pain medication in the States. But at the hospital where our baby girl was born, what they lacked in pain medication I can honestly say they made up for with lots of attentiveness.

One nice thing here in Germany is that after the baby comes you can have a Hebamme come to see you once a week for 5 weeks and she helps you with nursing, inspects the baby, shows you how to take care of it, lots of other practical advice. I recommend it strongly and if you can find an English-speaking Hebamme, so much the better. (One caveat though....the Hebamme's are into natural healing, some to the point of zealotry).

I used my own eggs too. Donor eggs are not legal here, from what I understand. Neither is embryo testing, which for women over 40, is kind of a pity. Wish the Germans would loosen up a bit.
