First u/s and need hope

(also posted in General Preg. room)

Hi, I'm 6W3D today and had my first baby u/s. We saw the sac and I was so happy. But soon after my RE made a comment on the sac being a bit small. He says he's seen this before and sometimes it is nothing, but it can also be something. I asked him what the 'something' is and he mentioned it could be chromosomal abnormality. Of course I was in a state of shock and at this point, even though I asked more questions, I had a hard time hearing & remembering his responses other than we have no control over what will happen. He mentioned miscarriage rates and also my age (just turned 41 last week). I am returning in 9 days for another u/s with the hopes of seeing growth of the sac and a heartbeat. Otherwise, everything else looked great...lining, etc.

Have any of you experienced this? Heard of someone who has? And what was the outcome? I know they do not want me to worry, but this piece of worrisome news is now consuming me.

What are the chance of this continuing as a healthy pregnancy with a healthy baby?

Thanks,

Jackie,
I hope someone can respond. I have seen many posts over the years where one week an RE or OB is concerned about something, only for the next appointment things look fine. Your beta #s look great, so keep a positive outlook. It is common to worry about things.... keep us updated!
