progesterone suppositories question too

Hi everyone

I have never been to this board before, I have been on the high risk and the miscarriage one. We have started to try again after we lost our baby in Mar 05 and I was 17.5 wks. I hope someone can answer the questions I have about progesterone suppositories. I was wondering if anyone got any side effects from them and also did you get any leaking from them? I am also wondering if your doctor told you anything different then mine told me. The only thing he told me was to take them twice a day. Oh I should tell you that I am on 200mg twice a day.

Any information would be great

thank you

Oh yes you will leak! I was told to use maxi pads and they weren't kidding. I was also told to lie down for 20 min. afterwards for better absorbtion. As far as side effects, I would say they make me retain water. Other than that, I was just told to make sure and be consistent with my insertion times. The medicine needs to be in my system every 12 hours so I use one at 6 am and one at 8pm. hope this helps and good luck to you!!!!!!!!

I take the Progesterone Supp 3 times a day... they tend to get a bit messy, but so far... no problems for me. No side effects that I noticed either...

I take progerserone suppositories at night and don't get very much leaking from them but I do get a lot of vaginal bleeding with intercourse. I am 7 weeks pregnant now so this is very scary. I also had a miscarriage at 16 weeks and found out after that I have a condition known as APA (anti-phospholipid antibody). This causes 2nd trimester miscarriages. I don't know if you have been checked for this but it might be beneficial.

Carrie i have a question for you if you don't mind me asking?

The question i have is how did you know that you have anti-phospholipid abtibody and what is the doctor doing for you now?

I am not sure if i have been tested for this all i know is i have done a million tests. What tests did they do for you to tell you you have this?

I hope everything goes great with this pg. My prayers and thoughts are with you

APA question

Hi, first I want to tell you how sorry I am about your miscarriage. It is so painful to get so far and then have something go so wrong. It can be such a trying, emotional time and will be for a long time. I found out that I had APA when I was going through IVF. I think that my dr. found this thru a blood test of some sorts. APA is supposed to make it hard to get pregnant by making it hard for the embryo to implant. He advised us to give up on ivf. We did and got pregnanton our own which is when he told that APA is a large cause for 2nd trimester miscarriages. Throughout my last pregnancy I went to a high risk specialist and they did lots of ultrasounds to monitor the attachment of the baby to the uterus. On a positive note, I have had 3 successful pregnancies all of which I got pregnant without any infertility drugs. My current pregnancy and the first one, which ended in miscarriage, were on my own as well. It is all in God's time which was a hard and painful lesson to learn(and I used to hate when people would say that to me). Please let me know if you have any more questions......Carrie
