Hello

I just found out this past Friday in the Emergency room that I am pregnant again. Ill be 40 very soon. I have 4 other children. I am so tired and confused. I was looking forward to being free from children in the next decade. Well now I just added another to that. Thats frustrating. Oh well at least Ive found a place to share.
Thanks for being here.

byfaith,
Congrats! and Welcome! I can understand that you were a bit surprised and a little confused. How old are your other children? You didn't say how far along you are?

Sounds like you got an early birthday present! It is so cool to be 35+ and pg these days... you are hip!

Many ladies here have tried long and hard to become pg at any age.
I look forward to you posting here.

Well I have a 14 year old daughter, 12 year old daughter, 6 year old son, and 5 year old daughter. Im glad that I found this message board. I havent told anyone besides my husband and kids yet. My sisters and friends are going to freak out. I may go through as much as this pregnancy that I can without telling anyone. Most of the people that I know dont understand kids and how it is such a blessing to be able to have them in your lives. They are going to think that I'm crazy. So I'll put off on the good news for a while. I think that I am about a month along in this pregnancy.

byfaith,
I want to say it sounds like you have a wonderful family!
Since this was such a surprise, I hope you are taking your prenatal vits and have an OB appt scheduled soon.

As for your friends reaction...... sure they will be surprised, but if they are not totally supportive- then maybe you need a wider circle of friends. They should take their cue from you- if you are feeling like this is a blessing then so should they....

some of life's greatest gifts are surprises!

byfaith-

I'm barging here! I'm a graduate of this board--my dd was 3 the middle of March. But I also have 4 older children. When dd was born they were 23, 19, 14 and 10. I also had 2 sd's aged 13 & 14. Ohhh....and I was 44 when dd was born. Oh...definately, people thought we were nuts, and made the comment often. We got the comment "oh it WAS an accident?????" so many times (it wasn't) that I finally looked people in the eye and said "No, actually this is a MIRACLE"!!!!

I hear you on the "tired" part of parenting--but really--by the time this baby is in school, your two oldest will be graduated from high school. It's weird when they start leaving--the house gets quiet.

We are expecting our first grandbaby in September...so my dd will be an Aunt at age 3. And our house will be filled with baby again. How lucky is that?

Hang in there--

Carol
