Any success with thin lining?

Hello ladies,

I'm over on the FET boards...planning for my first DE-FET. My lining doesn't seem to want cooperate. First u/s was 7mm, second was 6mm. Had the same problem with the fresh DE cycle, but eventually got up to 9mm. Based on that, we're going to go ahead, but could really use some encouragement.

Any success with 6mm linings?

Thanks and my best to you with your pregnancies.

Sorry Kat,
Lining was never a problem with me. I haven't had much luck with FETs either. I have one FET
left that I will do in a few months.... to bring all my "babies" home. I do hope this one works. Best to you with this cycle.

almost there! Level 1
Hi!
My last doctor actually did bring it up. He said that we must be at 9 or more and a lot of the times the lining/reading may vary depending on where its been measured from - there were cycles where I was bordering on the edge like 8.99..... so to totally take that variable out, he put me on Viagra vaginal suppositories. I don't know if it was the Viagara or Metaformin which finally worked for us in the cycle 5.
They are big on it at Stanford. you might want to mention it to your doctor.

Good Luck!

Hi there

I use to have a thin lining problem with every cycle. We actually questioned my lining when it was 6mm three years ago when I got pg from an iui which resulted in a loss. The RE commented that it was itellegent of us to ask about the lining, but then he refused to comment any further about the risks or probability factors for sustaining a pg with such a thin lining.

After that incident, no RE dared to perform a transfer unless my lining was over 7mm. It was tricky because my body responded very quickly to meds. but my lining lagged behind. I always believed that my lining was a problem, but it was troublesome to find an RE that would do an empirical lining work-up since most prefer to follow standard protocols.

Finally after switching to my third RE, we found a man that was willing to provide extra support to my lining provided we agreed to do PGD\5-day transfer. He thought that the reasons I probably wasn't getting pg (totally unexplained) was either due to my the lining or it was chromosomal. This RE wanted to move forward with PGD testing and I wanted him to treat my lining instead of doing harsh biopsies.

So I agreed to do PGD considering that was his specialty, but only under the condition that he provided extra support to my lining. At certain stages I was put on triple progesterone (shots and suppositories) and then eventually estrogen patches. I also took daily baby aspirin, b-complex vitiman (help boost immune), plus prenatal supplements.

My lining finally reached 10mm and I backed out of the PGD testing at the last minute. Biopsies weaken the embryos and that scared me. Plus day five transfers have drawbacks too. I proceeded to transfer three embryos on day three (after arguing with DH + RE). It must have been my lining because this cycle resulted in a twin pg. If it's chromosonal, then I'd have another loss, but my fingers are crossed that everything is going to be okay.

I believe it’s best to have a lining that is over 8mm---preferably 9-10mm. Maybe you should try to discuss options or medications that could help thicken your lining. The range is probably between 7-14mm, but you don't want it too thin or too thick.

Best wishes...

Sorry to hear about your lining issues. I really don't have much to add in that regard, as they increased my meds and my lining was optimum when we did a transfer. I wanted to wish you all the best with your upcoming FET and hope this time you get the BFP you so deserve. Please keep us posted.

Okay I hope I don't offend anyone with this "home remedy", but I thought it worth mentioning even though it's a bit personal.

For my first DFET my lining was a 9, but I got a BFN (I've always had very light periods). My second DFET my lining was 10.75 two days prior to transfer so by transfer day is should have been even better. Even though my RE didn't seem concerned after my first negative I thought my lining should be better. RE didn't put me on anything so I took matters into my own hands...so to speak.

Okay here it is...I thought to myself...self, what increases blood flow to that area you guessed it, orgasm! I made sure I had at least 1 to 2 a day whether I wanted one or not and whether I had help or not for two weeks prior to transfer.

Now scientifically this may or may not be the reason my lining was much better, but it was the only thing I did differently and it worked!

P.S. I forgot to mention I had triplets!

Thank you ladies for your kind wishes and for sharing your experiences. TRC -Your approach makes perfect sense to me and I had even read that this was the case. My RE always says no intercourse after a certain point before my transfer, but it never fails, after my transfer I ultimately have a dream that brings on an orgasm and results in painful cramping. I've called my RE each time who assures me that it's okay...after all, women who don't have to do IVF are pregnant and having intercourse without issue. Anyhoo, probably TMI

This time around we are adding in the viagra supps, estrace tabs vaginally and I asked them to try heparin. By the time transfer comes around (6/2) I will have been doing acupuncture and therapeutic massage for 11 weeks and 5 weeks of mind/body health sessions. If this doesn't work, I don't know what will!!!

Thanks again ladies.
