Nuchal Scan vs. Triple Screen

I was reading another thread and it talked a bunch about the Nuchal Scan. I did some research and I think I know what it is about. However, my dr. never mentioned this scan but did offer a Triple Screen test during my 16 to 18 week. This would increased risk for Down Syndrome and other defects.

Does anyone know which one is better? Does one have better results. I am at about 12 +5 days.... I don't have long to figure out if I want the Nuchal scan done or if I should just wait for the Triple screen.
Any guidance would be great.

Lurking from the May due date board...the nuchal scan is more accurate in identifying potential Downs' Syndrome and Trisomy 18 issues (the blood test in combo with the ultrasound scan). The AFP screen has a pretty high rate of false positives. I did both, but I definitely made sure to have the nuchal scan as part of my tests. That one was my biggest priority.

I would def try to get a nuchal scan in as well. you only have a day or so. They do it between 11 and 12.6 weks.
