Honey, I'm so sorry. I have been in your exact position more times than I care to remember.

The first 2 m/cs I had D&Cs. The rest were natural (I have been pregnant 13 times and have two children; you can do the math).

I FAR prefer natural. I like my privacy. The pain helps me process; helps me stay in the moment and let it all go. I have never had anything that did not come out, no infections - in fact with the last 4 I did not even have a follow up exam. My body did what it needed to do, and I was spared the antiseptic coldness of the medical field as well as more $$ and more time away from work.

((hugs)). I hope you and marybeth both get your miracles.

I went through something similar. When I lost one of my twins last year, the second one ALWAYS measured a week behind. They gave me all the talks and wanted to give me methotrexate to end the pregnancy. well, we DID get a heart beat (a week after it SHOULD have been there. I was almost 8 weeks, my RE doesn't even EXPECT to see a hb for usre until 7w1d!)

Anyhow...we did end up losing that baby, but totally unrelated to it's development. We lost it because I had an intrauterine hemmorhage that forced the sac from baby B to detach.

Hold on there, and know, that the babies growth can vary REMARKABLY from week to week. My friend had one twin that measured a week behind all the time from the first u/s, until 12 weeks, at which she was only 1 day behind.

Things which the RE's do not understand, they give a grim prognosis too. Keep your chin up and don't even think of throwing the towell in yet!

Hugs,
Heather

Lisa,
First off, I am sorry you are going through all this!! I hope your next u/s shows a nice strong h/b and that this whole ordeal will end up a distant memory.
You asked about D&C vs. natural and I pray that you won't need to think about either. I personally did the D&C but only b/c I had a 2nd opinion about the no h/b and also was measuring behind (and since I did IVF there was no question as to dates). I had figured that if it hadn't resolved on it's own at that point how much longer would it be? Also I wanted to try again as soon as possible. I also couldn't personally stand the thought of continuing to carry a life that stopped. I wanted to mentally and physically move on without prolonging the emotional toll. Plus I had heard that having a D&C increases your chances of getting pg b/c it's like having a clean slate. Not sure if that is true or not or if someone was blowing smoke up my butt.
Again I hope you don't even have to deal with chosing. I hope things work out for the best for you.

PS- Your son is so cute! I don't know if you remember me from the Jan boards or not. It's fun to see how much he's grown!

LWA - I am so sorry you are going through this. You will be in my prayers that everything works out. As for d&c or natural, I have had both and would choose natural. The first time I was too far along but the second time I was about where you are.

Oh LWA I am so sorry you are going through this ordeal. I pray you will neither need the D&C or the "natural". With DS we didn't get a hb until 7wks and my doc didn't make me feel like my pg was over before the 7wk mark. With my 3 losses I had no hb at 7wks and I had the 1st 2 D&C. The 3rd was natural. So I was more than excited when I had the hb at 7wks. With my DD they found one at 6wks. So you never know sweetie. I know it is difficult but try and hang in there ok.

Sending tons of +++++++++thoughts and prayers for your little one.

Hi Lisa,

I am not sure if you remember me but I think we were on the January pg boards together. I dropped off after John was born, I find the lack a sleep a killer. It takes me about 9 mos to get back on track.

Anyway..

I am so sorry about what you are going through . Unfortunatly I have been down that road before. It is good you are getting another us just to be sure. Hang in there.

In terms of mc vs d/c. I have had both and neither are a treat but I found the d/c was easier than I thought. Over with in a couple minutes with minimal bleeding afterward. The m/c (about <6wks) had very heavy bleeding and of course lasted a couple of days.

Thinking of you
