Now that we have 3 year olds--or almost

Here are some things I'm wondering:

Do you still cut up food?

    Sippy cups?

Little people or big people utensils?

    Bibs?

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants?

    Naps?

Can you child put their own shoes on?

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part?

Okay, I think that's all for now, just things I've been wondering about Mackenzie and what we should change or work towards

Do you still cut up food?
** sometimes. Like meat that I know would be hard to chew in big pieces. Or if its something big like a quesadillia (sp?)

    Sippy cups?
**not with the spouts any more. We use the coolers with the holes in the top. He can drink out of a cup but he spills it enough that I want him to have a lid. All of Ben's little friends his age that do drink out of lidless cups are constantly spilling them every where. I don't get what the big deal is with lidded cups. Its age appropriate with their motor skills but peds are always pushing cups. What's the rush?

Little people or big people utensils?
**What ever he's in the mood for at the time. So both I guess.

    Bibs?
**yes for messier meals. no for less messier meals.

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants?
**mostly. He needs some adjustments to get everything in place.

    Naps?
**Ben goes to his room about 1-2 and will play for a while. Eventually he falls to sleep and then will wake up about 4. Even when he doesn't fall asleep he has quiet time in his room for a while.

Can you child put their own shoes on?
** He recently can do his sandals and he can slide on his crocs but he can't put on his sneakers.

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part?
**Ben can do his pants and socks but not his shirt.

No you wont. Ben doesn't like the potty any more. I'm not going to push it either.

Do you still cut up food? Like Deb said- meats yes, most things not as much

Sippy cups? we have open cups at meals, but when wandering around or out, we use sippys still.

Little people or big people utensils? Both. Spoons are usually teaspoons, but they still like the small forks- they stab themselves too often with the big ones.

Bibs? Messy meals we do, otherwise no

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants? Drew does and goes by himself like a champ ( once again, 3 weeks ago he refused to sit on the potty so there is hope) Morgan can do it, but usually choosed not to. She wants me to do everything these days for her.

Naps? Please dont let these go away. We take an afternoon nap for about 2 hours.

Can you child put their own shoes on? Yes- we need to work on the tongue sometimes but they put their own on half the time.

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part?
They can do it all. They do for bath time. They strip like champs! lol

Here are some things I'm wondering:

Do you still cut up food? Yes, mostly meat which she doesn't eat anyway.

Sippy cups? Yes, but only for water. She drinks milk in her open plastic cup at the table.

Little people or big people utensils? We got rid of all our baby utensils, but our silverware set has some smaller forks and spoons and she uses those. Bibs? No way, she would hardly even keep them one after year one !!

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants? We are all potty trained here. Meg does it all herself, goes in the bathroom, turns on the lights, pulls down her pants and back up again, washs hands (and plays in the water a little ) then turns the light off and shuts the door. When she goes number 2, she will call me or sissy for entertainment if she thinks she will be in there awhile and makes us stand at the door and talk to her..

Naps? Sometimes, but only in the car or at school from time to time
Can you child put their own shoes on? Yes, but not tie them

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part? Yes, she takes off her clothes puts them in the hamper and puts her own pj's on, I do help to get her dressed in the morning mostly, but she is pretty independant.

I have to say, Megan having a bigger sister has really matured alot quicker than Emma did. Emma wasn't doing half of what Meg does at this age. Both girls have "chores" that they get paid a dollar a week for. they put there clothes in the hamper, they help set the table and they clean the playroom. Megan (on her own) has also taken on making her bed and calls it her "shores" (chores)

Do you still cut up food? yes I have a weird fear of her choking

Sippy cups? most the time but try to do regular cups at meal times but she is a Klutz and ends up knocking them over cuz she can't sit still EVER!!!

Little people or big people utensils? depends what she wants. She'll go to the drawer and pick.

Bibs? no but she should I spot clean all her outfits with stains

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants? she she does it all herself even wipes her butt with a #2 really well. Got lucky with PT her.

Naps? yes thank the Lord!!! about 1.5-3 hours a day...usually 2 hours on average

Can you child put their own shoes on? yes but never fails always on the wrong foot then she trips and falls....such a klutz

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part? she loves to be naked and is always undressing herself a few times a day and I put her clothes back on....thinking winter she'll be singing another tune about the nakedness

Do you still cut up food? yes

    Sippy cups? yes

Little people or big people utensils? toddler size or in the case of A, his fingers

Bibs? C refuses and is very neat. A only wears one now for messy stuff.

If you're working on the potty thing, can you child pull up their own pants? I'm in the Paula and Fluffy club so NA.

Naps? C hasn't napped for months now. A naps some days but then he's awake in their room for a long time at night. I've read that if naps interfere with going to bed it's time to give them up but he gets so darn crabby some days without one.

Can you child put their own shoes on? C has a couple of times. A no.

What about undressing, can they do it all or just part? C is also in a stripping phase again right now. A no.
