    Refusing to take a bottle----help!

ACK! Will is refusing to take a bottle and I'm at a loss to figure out why.

He's BF and has thusfar taken the occasional bottle (with breast milk) when I've been out longer than his regular feeding time. I took DS1 skating in the week and had a desperate call from my Mum asking me where the brandy was kept to dunk the nipple in as he was refusing to take a bottle (!!!!) Sorry Mum, we don't have brandy and if we did I would still not be keen on giving it to a 3 month old.

I bought different bottles (Playtex-Advance) as thought that maybe it was the nipple or something...I'd been using Gerber.

I have tried him with different bottles and with frozen BM as well as fresh BM and both times he gets so upset. Anyone have any suggestions?

    TIA

oh no this sucks! Have you tried the Soothie Bottles? I had a friend who had a similiar problem and the baby took this one. Seems it is most shaped like a nipple. BUT I think they are getting to that age when they KNOW it is not Mummy. Last night DH had a problem putting baby to bed because he wanted me....

Sorry - no ideas here. BF didn't work out for me so they have been on bottles all along. When they get over tired or it is taking too long to get their bottles ready, they often don't take it right away even if they are hungry. They have to get calmed down first before they will eat.

What type of Gerber nipples are you using? When my DS was in the NICU, they used Gerber Nuk nipples on him because they said that it feels more like the breast to them. Maybe you could try those if you haven't already? Also, I've heard the Playtex Natural latch (I think that's what they're called) are great for nursing babies.

Thanks guys, he's still refusing the bottle so I'm off tomorrow to buy a few more for the collection. I'll add your suggestions to the list. His brother has a small procedure and I really really don't want the baby with me all day and over night in the Hospital.
