Gum - White area and inflammation

Hey - went to doc for 1 year check up and asked about an area on LO gums. It is inflamed...not real red but swollen looking and there is a white blister looking sore. He has had fever and ear infection for 5 days and is now on antibiotics. She said that those mouth things are normal!!!!! She said tons of babies get them and said something about mucus...did not make sense to me. I'm worried about it and keep trying to look at it....if this is normal - does anyone know what the heck it is I'm talking about????

It's not a fever blister, is it? I used to get those as a child, basically a canker sore but I only got them when I had a fever...and for some weird reason I grew out of that

Sorry to hear that your little guy is miserable.

From what my sister (RN) told me, some babies have more mucus when they are teething and it's very acidy (from the stomach). My little guy drools still like crazy and he gets sometimes a really red rash under his chin and neck if the sitter and my older 2 don't change his bibs frequently. I change them every couple of hours when I'm home. His drooling comes and goes depending on if he's teething or not.

I don't know if that's what your Doc is talking about.
