Swine flu

So, is anyone else freaking out about the swine flu? I feel like I'm keeping the baby home more because of it. I think I'm insane!!

You're not insane. I'm really worried about it too for our son. They can't treat babies with the antiviral drugs if they are under 1 year old, so I'm totally worried about either him getting it from being out and about, or from one of us getting it and giving it to him! We're not taking him out to places like the grocery store or drugstore, just to lessen the chances he's around others that are sick. And we're just hoping we don't get anything from anyone else too, cause it would be so easy for him to then get it. Ugh! I was just starting to worry less because it seemed like flu season was pretty much over.

I am not worried about it, any more than I worry about other bugs/viruses etc. We havent had any confirmed cases in RI and honestly, I dont know anyone that is taking any more extreme measures than usual. I have two boys in school in addition to the baby and she has been exposed to whatever they have (so far this school year, pink eye a few times, colds, etc) and she has been fine. Maybe we are naive and all, but I just dont panic about these things, and dont let my kids get panicy either...

I'm just trying not to think of it too much cause if I do then I become obessed and over worried! It does freak me out when I think of him getting sick but that is why I try not to think about it and just pray he is protected.

Then today I take him to daycare and they have had a child with MRSA and put out a flier about symptoms and now I'm totally freaked out him getting MRSA more than the flu cause a kid at his daycare actually got MRSA and there are no people in AK with swine that we know of yet.

Always something huh girls!

I'm freaked about swine flu too. I worry about daycare and all the kids with older sibs in school. He's only there three days a week but it took him two days there to come home with his first cold.

That's super scary about MRSA. We had a co-worker who they thought had it but they weren't sure... she was out for a month and then back with some kind of antibiotic drip with her all the time. I'm still not entirely sure they ever really knew what she had. That was when I was pregnant. I was so freaked about that. I just kept hoping they wouldn't let her come back if she was contagious.

I'm not freaked out about it. No cases in North Dakota, and I know that if any one with symptoms tries to cross the border from Canada they will be quarantined.

I've relaxed a bit about the swine flu, even though there is one case in my town and like 70 or 80 in Massachusetts but I can't keep him in a bubble. I do wash my hands like a freak and still insist on people washing theirs before picking him up.

My mother actually just got diagnosed with MRSA. Her doctor said as long as people didn't touch the wound it was fine. I've had the baby around her before we knew she had it and the Pedi said that unless she touched her wound and then touched him he wouldnt worry. He said I didn't need to stay away from her either. So much to worry about!! UGH!
