    HELP!! Dilated and Short Cervix!!

I am a first time mother, 25 yrs old and Im 25 weeks pregnant. I had a differnt problem that i didnt have my period all the time, and Im very tall, 6ft and was going to the gym often so I didnt even know I was pregnant at all till 2 weeks ago!! So i made no lifestyle changes, which is the first thing i was worried about, I occassionally drank and worked out hard. However I had my first big ultra sound and found out that all babys organs and everything look perfectly fine, the problem is with me. I have a dilated cervix almost 3cm and my cervix is very short ONLY 7MM, last week it was 11MM!! I have been on bed rest in the hospital since I found out 2 weeks ago. The Dr did some sort of labor test and it showed that it is positive that, so that along with my shortening cervix the Dr said it is very likely I will give birth in the next 10 days. He has me on progesterone pills to try to slow down the process and I did get a set of steriods to help the baby's lungs grow.

The other problem is that Im out of the US at the moment, Im in Greek Hospital, which is public healthcare and I definetely do not feel like im being taking care of as well as im use to in the US, at times i even feel neglected. Im always the one that is on top of the Dr's asking him to do tests and making suggestions. He said it is far too dangerous to travel to the US at this time to go to see an American doctor. Also I asked the doctor about medication to slow down the process, and he said I have no contractions so im not in labor and there is nothing to prevent labor, only slow it down once it starts...is this true? Also how does he know im NOT having contractions, i have been reading all over the internt that women have contractions and done even know it! I have no idea what a contraction even feels like!!

I need some help from anyone!!! Does anyone know any medications I should be taking? Does anyone have any advice or success stories??

I was also told by the Dr today that my baby only has a 25% chance of survival this early and only a 5% chance of being a normal healthy baby. Does anyone also know any treatment I can demand after the baby is born to make the chances higher, I see that the chances in the US are a lot higher than here for that.

ANY and I mean ANY advice or help is sooo much appreciated!!!!

    Thanks!!
    Christina
