Do you find this odd?
When they called me to be in the nursery a few months back the counselor just called and extended the call over the phone. I thought that was strange and to be honest, kind of rude. I've never been in a ward where they've done that before, is that normal??

I've never had that happen. I've always been "pulled aside" at Church or called at home and an appointment was set. I've never heard of it being done this way. I can imagine that in some places trying to meet with everyone in person can be inconvenient and time consuming. But, in UT with as close geographically ward members are situated and also the closeness in proximity to the Church buildings themselves, there really should be no excuse for doing this there. Here, our ward is quite spread out geographically and it takes 1/2 hour to drive to the Church. But, I've still never had it happen like that for the few callings I've had in this Ward. If not "rude," it's definitely weird.

that is kind of strange. Were you already in Primary in another calling? In our ward, once you are a primary worker, then they can move you anywhere they want (if you agree of course) in that same organization. But even then, it is usually the primary president that has called and told/asked us. How are you liking nursery?

Yes - I think that is odd. I hope it is not because it was "just a Nursery" calling - after all, what is more important then teaching the littlest of God's children.
Our ward has a problem with being too informal releasing people and causing hurt feelings that way.

Thanks ladies! Yea, I thought it was pretty weird and the thought did cross my mind that maybe he had the mentality of "it's only nursery" but I sure hope that's not the case. That counselor has since been released, maybe there was a problem or something.
I'm LOVING the nursery! To be honest I was kind of worried about being in there, I had a bad experience last time I was in there (10 years ago! lol) and was worried about a repeat but I prayed about it and it has been such a blessing. I just think we all need to take our turn weather we "feel" like it or not ya know?

I'm glad you are enjoying the nursery. It's one of my favorite callings.
Like sweet em, we've run into a problem getting people released. In fact, I had a call this morning from the semi-active lady who teaches the third Sunday lesson in RS, wanting to make sure this was the right Sunday. Ummm, a replacement was called a little over a month ago and this gal HASN'T BEEN RELEASED!!!!!! And she doesn't even know. I hemmed and hawed a little and told her we have it covered this time, then had a firm talk with the RS president about getting her released. Inexcusable.

I think that is slightly odd....however with my primary teacher calling I was released with out any heads up that it was happening. So they just called my name in church. I am the chorister so the whole ward got to witness my funny face....when I had no idea what was going on. The best part is (because of a very small primary) is that I am the chorister in primary too and the bishopric didn't know...so they said they were releasing me from primary in its entirety but they just meant teacher.
