    Balboa Clinic

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting on here, but I've been reading the discussions for awhile now and I find the information to be quite useful. Hopefully someone can help me with my questions as well!
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 6 months now. I found out right off the bat that we weren't going to be able to do it on our own since I don't ovulate. My doctor put my on provera to jumpstart my period and clomid to help me ovulate, but after 3 cycles (now starting my 4th), I still haven't ovulated. My doctor put in a referral for me to see a specialist at Balboa. My husband is deploying around the 1st of April so we want to do IUIs while he is gone. We would like to get a jumpstart on sperm banking since we only have about a month and a half until he leaves.
    My question is this:
Does anyone know how everything works at Balboa? Do they do sperm freezing there or do they send us to a civilian clinic? Does Tricare cover the banking or are we paying out of pocket? Also, is there a wait to do IUIs? I know there is a long wait for IVF, but we are trying to avoid that if at all possible.
I tried to email the email address on Balboa's website, but the email was returned undeliverable. Does anyone have a phone number for the clinic or an email address of someone I can talk to? I've been searching the internet for almost a week now and am beyond frustrated that I can't find any information.

The other thread will answer your freezing sperm question. I can answer if there is a waiting list for IUI's. There is some of a wait. Its only a few months though. The number to call for the NTC infertility clinic would be 619-524-6218. If the referral got put in you should get a phone call about setting up an appt. Also, i know you might not want to think about it. but if there is ever a chance you might need IVF. It might be best to get on the list now while you do other treatments. The wait is a year, and i'd hate to see you figure out you need IVF and be told well you'll need to wait a whole year for IVF. This way you'd be able to get other stuff out of the way while you wait on IVF.

    Goodluck!

Hi I am the one who posted about the frozen sperm at Balboa. We only had a very short notice on this deployment and were only able to get 2 samples frozen in time. Each sample was $100 at Sperm bank of California and they store it for 6 months free for military. The wait-list for IUI is about a month long. We just had our first IUI Feb 24th while my husband was still here unfortunately it was a failed cycle. So we are back on the wait list again until probably April. This will be my first cycle with my husbands frozen buddies. I am hoping It works this next time.

I just had af show up last night so I am on CD 2 starting my BC pills today. I hope they call me soon. Nukeswife did they talk about what meds they are going to put you on this time? We did Clomid+gonalF+menopur+ovidrel and estrace this last cycle. I felt like a lab rat. lol. Its funny I though they were way over doing the meds on me and was worried we would get cancelled for having to many eggs but I ended up with only 2 good ones and that didn't even work. Good luck with your baseline! I hope everything looks good!

Looks like we are cycling together Nukeswife! I got a call this morning to see if I could come in tomorrow morning for a baseline appointment. I didn't think they were going to call me until mid April! Looks like we might have a pair of New Years babies! How did your appointment go yesterday?

So if all goes well with your appt today you'll be a few days ahead of me. Let me know how your appt goes.

Appointment went well. I just started my cycle today and had my baseline ultrasound this morning. I have a left over cyst on my left ovary from last cycle but he said it should be fine. Since the clomid I was on last cycle thinned my lining so badly he said that we wants me on daily Follistim pen injections of 75 Iu. I am nervous about that since I really hate needles! My husband is deployed so my friend is going to come over and do my injection on me everyday. I only have 2 frozen samples to use so I am freaking out that these won't work. I have to go to the Balboa Monday for blood work to check my dosage. On a really good note I was in and out of the clinic and pharmacy in under 40 minutes that is the fastest appointment yet! I am usually there a good 2-2 1/2 hours.
