    Smile BAMC April Cycle!

I know it's a few months out, but this week we received notice that we are in the April cycle at BAMC! Is anyone else part of April? This is our first attempt at IVF, so I'm a newbie & totally clueless. We were told last month the waiting period would be another year due to organizational conflicts (Jan 2013). Needless to say, when I received the call this week asking if we still wanted to move forward in the IVF process, I was in complete shock. So excited, nervous...all of the above. Would love to gather advise and hear about past experiences.

I have Lupus SLE that is now in remission. We attempted a tubal reversal this past May at WH and the outcome was a nicked bladder & a cath for 10 days. Dr. R & the girls really tried their best. They are a fantastic group. My tubal ligation was medically recommended back in the late 1990s. Long story, but should have never happened. It's been quite a journey to make this happen and to get my health stabilized. There's no time like now according to my docs. My husband and I have agreed to see how my body handles IVF to determine if we will make a 2nd attempt, if necessary. We are open to adoption. Just a lil bit about my history. Look forward to the journey and hopefully to find a few friends along the way.

My husband and I just recieved the call this week for the April IVF cycle at BACM as well. We are so excited and trying not to be nervous or anxious, but as everyone knows that is really difficult. This will be our 1st IVF cycle but we have done 3 IUI's all in 2010 and none of them worked. We currently live at Fort Polk, LA but hope to be moving (PCS) to Fort Sam in the next couple of months. Thankfully we will be closer and that alone will cause less stress. I keep telling myself 4 months is not that far away but when you are waiting for something like this it is.

I learned a lot following the other threads, this is my first IVF too (Jan cycle). There's a wealth of information on the other posts. Baby dust to all of you.

Ashley, I hear you. I'm a bundle of nerves and joy! We are hoping four months zips right by, but at the same time there is so much to do. I'm glad we have the holidays to focus on. Your PCS will keep you occupied for sure. Keep me posted on how things are going and when you get into town, send me a message. If you have any questions about SA, let me know. My husband is at Lackland AFB, we've lived in SA for about a year and a half.

JPP, thank you for your post and baby dust. I will sprinkle it everywhere. I've been reading through the other forums, but some of the info makes me more nervous. It seems 1st time IVF cycles are usually a bust. I don't want to get my hopes up or down by reading too much, but value research and information. I always say it's better to be informed and prepare for the worst. My husband is the opposite, he looks to the positive in every situation. We'll make a good pair through the process.

Thanks ladies! I look forward to chatting w/ ya on the site!

Mel0107, I am anxious and nervous too, but everything I read states that stress is a contributing factor to infertility, so I am seriously thinking about acupuncture for this cycle or other means to keep my stress level low. This is my first IVF too, and I want to believe that I will have one or two bundles of joy next year. Three might be pushing it, my DH would just lose his mind. So with this goal in mind I want to stay positive all the way. Hope is all I want to hold on for now. If the worst happens I will deal with it when I comes, I will probably cry, blame myself, the docs and everyone else, and make it through. So, please like your husband do not dwell on the worst, I am sure others who have gone through this will tell you the same.

BTW I spoke to the nurse last Friday about the upcoming January cycle, apparently the cycle is not full yet. Some dropped out because of money or other issues. So if you are interested in moving your cycle earlier, I would seriously consider giving her a call.

    JPP,

Thank you for posting the info/update about Jan's cycle. I jumped out of my seat w/ joy when I read your message! I will call the clinic first thing in the morning. How exciting would that be!!! I can't think of a better Christmas/New Years gift than an earlier cycle!

I guess a better way to state my outlook is, I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I really am a positive person. My husband calls me the rebounder. When things go wrong (such as the tubal reversa surgeryl), I have short lived pity parties and I'm right back on my feet. I find laughter in almost any negative. I try to keep up with yoga and massage to help with my stress and anxiety. I will research accupuncture, let me know if you find a good clinician. I've heard great things about it in relation of IVF and stress.

Thank you again for your post. You have calmed my nerves and helped me realize I'm not alone in the process. I hope both of us have bundles of joy this time next year! I BELIEVE is my new motto, thank you! I hope we get to cycle together. I'll keep you posted.

    JPP,

I called this morning and they said the open slots for Jan had already been filled. It was a fun flutter feeling, but we're okay with April. Thanks for the heads up. Keep me updated on how you are doing! Have a very happy holiday and tons of baby dust to you in Jan!

Thanks Mel for the offer about helping us out around SA. My husband has been stationed there before. I really hope that our impending move helps take my mind off of the next few months. My husband says I obsess, and that I am stressing. I dont really feel stressed but in know I obsess. I am really hoping that we can all meet before we have our procedures. It would be nice to be able to talk to the other women. There are just somethings I can tell my husband that he I dont think gets although he is supportive.

Ashley, I fully understand. My husband is supportive, but he gets that lost in the mix look when I get emotional or stressed/obsessed. I would love to meet for coffee or lunch when you get to town! It's nice to have some "girl power" support in the process. Best wishes on the PCS and let me know when you are here in SA, or if you need anything!

Mel, sorry to hear that, they must have filled these slots very quickly. Anyway, I believe this is the first full cycle they are doing here at BAMC with the Fertility Center of San Antonio. You can follow my journey on the January thread.

    Happy Holidays.
