    Question **PG MENTIONED**:IUI at Womack

Hello ladies! I am new to this site and just had a few questions. I am currently on the waitlist to get in to see Dr. Parker. I saw him once in 2007 after my husbands SA came back. He has a low sperm count and low motility. I had an HSG in April 2007 and that came back normal. We saw Dr. Parker and he pretty much said that we would have to do artificial insemination if we wanted a child. At the time we were unable to afford it and decided to wait because we was going to be getting a bonus a couple months later. To our surprise, in Dec. 2007 I got pregnant on my own. He deployed in April and I gave birth on 9-11-08. We decided that when he returned home in July 09 we would start trying right away. Now here we are back to having no luck. I saw my doc and she did some bloodwork which all came back normal. I also had an ultrasound done to check for PCOS which came back fine too. We are now waiting to get an appointment and I have a feeling that he will suggest AI again. For those of you with any experience with this, is this going to be a long process? I have seen on here what IVF entails but haven't really found a timeline for IUI. Thanks for your help!

Erin, sorry I don't have a time line for you. I just forget. I think that you do the IUI the day after your trigger. But I may be off. I think that it was a week or so of meds and then the trigger and then the IUI, so still about 2 weeks. Anyone else have a better idea of this? Congrats on the baby. It's always so awesome to hear of those miracle babies!

    Erin,
Depending on what medicine you take: clomid (usually 5 days) or injections (range, mine were like 8-10 days) then you will do the trigger sometime in the evening and 36 hours later you will do the IUI. Some people feel nothing. I had a little cramping for a few minutes. Then you go home and start the 2ww. It's really not that bad and the doctor should walk you through it. You do have to go in a couple of times for u/s & bw to see how your follicles are doing. Let me know if you have anymore questions or just want to talk.

Thank you for the info. I really appreciate. I thought it would take longer than that. Now if I can just get an appointment, hopefully we can get things going. I'm so glad that I found this site since it seems like everyone else I know just seems to get pregnant without any difficulty or without even trying. It's hard when you don't have any friends that understand what you are going through.

I know exactly how you feel Erin. It seems like you are the only one in the world who can't get pregnant. It's even worse when those people are inconsiderate of what you are going through. I joined this board to have some support and it really has let me see I'm not alone in this. Plus, it's nice to talk to people who have already gone through this and can answer questions or calm my fears.
