I am posting this in a seperate thread because it was suggested to so others may see it. I am really confused about what to do for blocked tubes. I have learned from this board that I really need to have this blocked tube looked into further. I guess I'm just not sure where to go from here. Does anyone know?? Thanks ladies so much for all your knowledge and support.

blocked tubes

With my little experience, my RE suggested doing an hsg, as one of my tubes is partially open. I was also told there is another procedure that can be done to unblock them. I'm sure some of the other ladies who have gone through it can tell you more.
Best of luck to you.

I also had an HSG done to check...it is a fairly easy/painless procedure. They basically inject dye into your uterus and check to see if it flows out thru the tubes.

And the doctor didn't tell you then that the tubes are blocked? I think you need to tell your RE about this (if he's not the one who did the HSG) and he will then give you options.

I don't have an RE... I have a PCM that has no idea that this is even an option to do IVF at MTFs. I am really trying here but feel like i am just spinning my wheels in seventy-eleven(my 8 yo DS made that up) directions. I made this appt for tomorrow about 3 weeks ago. It is that hard to get to my PCM... I just don't want to not ask the right questions there??? Thanks again ladies...
yes my Dr told my husband both tubes were 100% blocked as I was deployed less than a week after the surgery but I still don't know exactly what that means and how to fix it or if it needs fixed???

I've already responded on your other thread, but I'll try to offer additional assistance. What you need to have them do is look at your HSG to indeed confirm (1) there is a blocked tube (s), from there you want to schedule a wire cannulation to see if the tubes can be unblocked in which a wire is carefully guided through the fallopian tube---you are not cute its inserted vaginally under general anesthesia in a labored postion, if that is unsuccessful than you want to have a lap to have them clamp and or remove the tubes. With the removal you increae your chance of not having a miscarriage via embryotoxc fluid, and ectopic pregnancies. I hope this helps and remember I've had this done on my left tube so additional questions don't hesitate to ask. And yes all of these services can be done via the MTF.

both my tubes were 100% blocked & hydros- the old method (still being done) is either drilling small holes or the wire canula as Cynara described- downside to both of these- the blockage will reform & there is no guarantee the fluid will totally drain (which the fluid kills embryos)- Iwas told you only have a 2yr window from time of procedure & that pg rate was less than 25% & term pg (live birth) only 12%
another option is to place wire clips on the tubes near the uterus-need IVf to get pg but need to note that fluid can still leak in to kill embryo as well as there is still a high chance of ectopic pg
whereas another option is to totally have the tubes removed (what I had done) - IVF is only option for pg but you cut out the possibility of fluid killing the embryo.
