    significant cramps post IUI

    Hi,

I just completed my first round of IUI, yesterday, at WR (one previous one at the university of viginia). My concern is that I had some spotting thru the evening last night, followed by worsening cramps. They continue to be significant today (worse than bad menstrual cramps). Is this normal? I can tough them out, if they are normal. I was just a bit afraid that they meant I was having a reaction to the media used to wash the sperm, or even the sperm it's self..

Any one else have these type of symptoms post IUI?

    Thanks

    Sheree

    Sheree,
The spotting and the pain *could* be related to your ovulation. Depending on how many follicles you had that were mature at the time of your IUI, you could be feeling them ovulate and even have spotting from it. I can almost always feel myself ovulate when i'm on a tx cycle but usually i won't get spotting and major cramping till about 7 days later which either means AF or implantation for me.
I hope these are all good signs in your case. Good luck and please keep us posted.

well, isn't your husband a spiffy looking man *)..I appreciate the feed back. I also had a child at 331/2 weeks...(previous marriage)..But she is 16 now. And a 5'10 basketball player..but I remember that when she was your daughters age, she was always tiny compared to others...

I had an ultrasound after the IUI, and had 2 follies..a huge corpeus luteum on the right..so maybe it is just ovulation. I usually have some cramping or even sharp pain with ovulation, but this feels different..more intense.

I will be praying that your husband stays safe over in the sand box. Les is retired airforce, and works for the dod now..but has been to iraq and afghanistan recently...although not for as long a time as yours..he was "unacknowledged" if you know what I mean...so i was always worried about the worse..

Well thank you! I think he's pretty spiffy too! He just left a few days ago to go back to Iraq but we had a wonderful 2 wk R&R leave. I worry about him constantly as you can imagine but that comes with the territory of being a military wife these days. Wow, a 5'10 basketball player? My dd did start out very little but these days she is gettin TALL. Her daddy is 6 ft and i wonder if she'll have some height on her too.
I'll be sending you lots of ++thoughts that this cycle turns out to be a big ole positive. :stickyvib

I willl be praying for the safety of your husband..I know that terrible combination of extreme pride and paralyzing fear..Almost as scary as infertility.lol
I am only 5'4, but Lauren's dad is 6'3...she hopes to grow another inch or two, but I told her not to count on it..there is a formula that is fairly accurate, for determining a childs adult height..if you do a google search on formula for height determination, I think you'll get it...something about dads ht in cm x moms height divided by blah blah
I did it when lauren was about 12, and it said she'd be about 5'11, so It's pretty accurate
