referral??? how long???

Just out of curiosity, since we are military on this board and most of us either are going thru if or have gone thru if I wonder how long it took everyone to get their referrals to even see a specialist or an re ..........I know when we first started the 1st referral took friggen six months......(didnt matter that we had been trying longer) then we had to start all over again when we moved from Ft. Eustis to Fort Hood--that was really aggrivating-----frustrating........go thru all of it again, and then hurry up and wait?
Any comments ladies?

In the beginning of our ttc days--back in '97 it would take weeks, sometimes months for referrals but in the last few years i haven't had a referral, to either an RE or a Peri, take more than a week or so. Now actually getting an appt once I was referred, that's a different matter.

I hear what your saying about getting the appt! I got so mad before because I had already had a referral and had to wait again to get another one, and before they would give it to me I had to do the tests all over AGAIN!
Once I got accepted at Wilford Hall I really havent had to deal w/this (Fort Hood) the WH people let me do all my labs and everything there.....they were very nice.......I was supposed to get a letter from my PCM saying that I would be cared for incase of an emergency (anything having to do w/the IVF cycle) and they couldnt write the letter, they wanted me to go to the base hospital and get someone from OBGYN to give me one....yeah like that was going to happen! (the ONLY) person who even deals with IF over there is a mean woman who thinks everyone is an idiot------so I WH just told me they would consider me a local-kewl!!!! If I had to wait to get an appt to get a letter from the hospital I would still be waiting for the appt!!!!!

Oh my gosh, that is just plain ridiculous.
Why do they have to make things so difficult? It's like jumping thru hoops....
I'm glad WH made it a bit easier on you!

My PCM is awesome. He is a civilian and I originally went to him for PCOS and then called a few days later to get a referral to see an RE and had the referral approved in 3 days. His office staff is the best too

Why are you having to switch PCMS so much. What part of TX are you in?

Question

Lovely Fort Hood! I dont switch they just cant keep dr.'s where I am seen...dont know why, probably dont treat them right or dont pay them enough......I am fortunate that I already knew the people down at Wilford Hall before ----ya mean its not like that everywhere in the Military?

I have been with my PCM since 2002 when I had my work insurance still. I just switched to tricare in Dec. 04. What branch of the military are you having the fun time to deal with?

My hubby is Navy.
