That is what I was told today. It is best to wait till 14 weeks and after for the shot!
I was told to decrease the chance of m/c.
What has your OB's said?

I had mine at my 10 week appointment. My OB nurse practitioner insisted upon it. According to the CDC website, since the flu shot is not an active virus, they say it's safe for pg women at any time during the pregnancy.

Warning: Pro Vaccine Message
I am strongly pro vaccine. I hope I don't offend anyone with this note. I'm just trying to pass on what I know....Please do not read if you don't want to hear a strong recommendation for the vaccines.
The CDC, World Health Organization and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology all recommend that pregnant women get both the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines and that there is no need to wait until the second trimester. Its fine to get it in the first trimester. I got the flu shot in my first trimester with my first pregnancy and have done so with this one too. Ask yourself this - would you rather get the flu vaccine which has been shown to be safe for pregnant women or would you rather get the flu and pump your body (and your baby) with the necessary drugs to ward off serious complications (including death)? Ofcourse, not getting the vaccine does not mean that you will get the flu. It just means that you are six times more likely to get the flu than the general population. |

I got the flu shot when I was 7 weeks pregnant, of course I didn't know I was pregnant at the time but I got it very early on last pregnancy also as recommended by my OB and nephrologist.
