    Anyone bothered by Crinone buildup?

OK, this might be TMI for some so I apologize in advance.

I have taken Crinone throughout all of my IF cycles, and now have been using it once a night since our last IUI. As many of you might know the Crinone gel builds up near the cervix after a while, and starts to discharge. Can be disgusting. Well, since I had some spotting a few weeks ago this buildup is discolored dark brown (almost black). Over the weekend I kept having some of it discharge on the TP so I manually tried to remove it with some success.

Ever since then I wake up in the morning with a brown discharge on the TP. Not a lot, just a little bit and it goes away after a few trips to the bathroom. I can't help but think it's still the Crinone, but now wonder if it's something else.

Anyone else have the same battle?

    Wow, that doesn't sound fun.

    I've never even heard of Crinone...so, I'm sorry...I can't help.

I sure hope it gets better for ya!

I used crinone on one of my cycles and it can be nasty! RE told me that the brown is from irrtation to the cervix. As long as there are no cramps or red blood, you should be ok.

Oh, Amy, I HEAR YA! I'm doing regular progesterone suppositories, and I know exactly what you mean. These balls of YUCK are coming out. I just want my normal who who back! DH feels the SAME as I won't let him near me while I'm doing this crap!

AND, the crinone is VERY irritating to the cervix. So the spotting is 100% normal.

My thoughts exactly! I was told I could stop this coming Friday but I'm scared. I may wean down to 2x a day until my supply runs out. At least then I won't have to insert one at work

I hope that your spotting stops and that you feel somewhat better knowing that this is a normal side effect. Hang in there

Yes, I know it's fairly normal and I'm freaking out too much. Just reallllyyyy getting tired of it.

Lisa, I can't imagine having to do three times a day! Wow, that's a lot of buildup - yuck!

I have been doing the crinone 2x a day and am in my 9th week now. My prog. levels were good at last 8wk visit so RE said to do 3more days of 2x then I could do one week of it 1x a day. So I will be done with it this Sunday!! I too had a red bleed at 5 1/2 wks then from there on I too had the brown clumps mixed with my crinone off and on for the last couple of weeks. Mostly just when I wiped. I guess it is fairly common.
    Good Luck!

    Hugs,
    Cathy
