My dh and I were talking about my u/s on Th. We are surprised that Baby Annika is already 7lb 10oz. I told him that I thought I was going to have this baby late next week. He said, "No way you will make it to 05-05-05."
Well at 5:30pm my Dh went to the grocery store to buy stuff for dinner (he wants to start a special diet). As soon as he walks out the door, I start having contractions. At first they were like BH contractions...but after 30min goes by they begin to become more painful. I think to myself that I need to sat down and drink some water. So from 6:30 to 7:00pm, I sat and time them. They are 8mins apart. My dh gets home from the grocery store and I tell him the "happy" news. I call my mom (who lives next door) and she comes over to watch the kids. I called my ob and his serve tells me to go to the hospital. After we grab our stuff, we are out the door by 7:30pm. We have a 30min drive to the hopsital (I still see my old ob in the town we used to live in). By now my contractions are about 5min apart and are very uncomfortable.
We make it to the hopsital and they get me hooked up the the monitor and....yes I am having contractions about every 5mins. They check my cervix and it is only open a very little bit and still kinda long. So now they think that I am just dehydrated. I drink about 2 liters of water a day. And when I thought I was in labor I began drinking more. Well, they check my urine and I have alot of ketons in it. After two hours on the monitor, they decide to give my a shot of demoral and a muscle relaxer and sent me home. I guess I was just low on water...strange for me since I drink so much....but by time we got home my contractions were slowing down. And by this morning they gone! I have an apt with my ob on Monday so we will see what happens then!
I truly thought we would have our baby this morning so I was a little sad but realized that she needs to cook for just a little bit longer....and mommy needs to clean the home and turn in my freelance project on Tues!
So I feel like things worked out for the best!

Sorry you couldn't get your little babe to arrive!! I've been hoping and wishing with every cx now...I feel your pain! Could it have been false labor? I think its a great sign that its coming SOON! It cannot possibly be too much longer now

Although I didn't go to L&D, I thought I was right there with ya! Yesterday, my contractions were 20 minutes apart and then it got down to where I had 3, 3 minutes apart! I had a regular OB appt yesterday so I went to that, halfway expecting to go to the hospital. My OB went ahead and checked me and I was only 1-2 cm. She said it could be the beginning OR I could have LOTs more of thsi to come! LOL Anyhow, we went ahead and scheduled my induction for May 5th, if I make it that long.
I have been having sporadic contractions today and they are getting my attention but still not painful.

Glad it worked out for the best!
I have to admit I'm so envious of you ladies having contractions ... at least it must feel like it's close. I'm 39 wks today and have had a few BHs over the last weeks but certainly nothing that made me think this baby was on its way. and I'm ready! Have an appt. on Wed. - hopefully there will be something to report!

Hmph. Sorry you had a false alarm-I imagine the excitement of thinking "it's time" is awesome and then the let down of it not being time....However, I have to be honest, since you mentioned it, I've been rooting for 05-05-05! What a cool birthday to have. I'm actually hoping my mini-man will make his entrance then, too (although he's not due until 05-16 and I'm not contracting at all, so it's not likely).
Anyway, let us know if anything changes!!
