    Larkin's 18 Month Check Up

Larkin had her appt today. She weighd 27 1/2 pounds and I can't remember how long she was (bad mommy!). Dr. was a little concerned about her speech since she's not saying much yet. He said he didn't need to see her until she is 2 years old and that he's hoping that by then she'll have a good vocabulary. We'll see.

Other than that - all was well.

What a big girl! Good job mommy! Our developmental therapist told us not to worry about speech until after two years either!

Wish she could give a few oz's to Jared

Sounds like she's doing great! I think second kids speak later because they let their older sibling speak for them so I am sure she's fine.

It is my understanding that second kids speak less too. My sister in law was apparently SILENT until she was like 2.5. My DH (the older sibling) didn't talk much either, but more than her.

I've read that ~18 months marks a vocabulary explosion that just keeps going and going. She'll be talking your ears off soon enough!

Great appt. I'm a little surprised that he would even mention speech at this age, esp for a second child? oh well. She'll be well on her to being a chatterbox soon enough!

Tiffany, read what my ped said about Ben not saying anything. Yeah, I have to say that he is totally going by "textbook" There is no reason to scare you like that!

Ben's ped said not to worry. And long as Larkin is making sounds and making eye contact, and making different sounds, there's nothing to worry about.....
